Technics EAH-AZ100 - Reviews & Impressions

Bought these on a whim. Not a TWS guy, but pretty good, in fact. Any comparison with REX5?
I think most people would say that the REX5 trumps the AZ100 in SQ, but that the latter is better at pretty much anything non sound related.

Yes, I was surprised by how good the ANC is on the Technics. They're a solid packaged. I also bought the Hifiman ones which were abysmal.

Well,

I've now completed my bake-off of the five TWS that I was comparing: Pi8, AZ 100, Rex5, Gemini 2, and Beoplay 11s. I got good deals on the Beoplay and Rex5 that was about 30 to 40% off. ( I kind of have this rule of no more than $300 on earbuds). Keeping the Rex5 and the Beoplay's. I don't know if I will keep the AZ 100's, but in many ways, they are the best all around. Beoplays are very good all around too.

It was pretty fun.

I don't have the az100 but I have the az80. A few days ago the support returned them to me after about 3 months. They had a problem with the balance of the 2 earphones. In the meantime I bought the Rex5. When I put the Az80 back in my ears I realized the abysmal difference there is with the Rex5. I hope to find someone to buy me the Technics as soon as possible.

Sound is much better on the Rex5. ANC is not quite as good as the AZ 100. The AZ 100 are the most comfortable earbuds I have ever had. Rex5 eartips need to be switched out so you can run with them to something more sticky.

I'm really torn of whether to keep the Rex5 and the AZ 100. I would not count out the Beoplay Eleven's. Those I'm keeping.

Hows the bass on these, are they bassier then the AZ80s? Because the bass is really weak coming from the Sony XM4s to the AZ80s.... The AZ80s for me would be the perfect buds if they had a bit more bass

It's better, but it's not as good as the Sony's. While it's a bit more, best base I've heard is really the Gemini 2. But dollar to sound value, I think the AZ 100 is the best by far.

It's funny, most people complained that AZ80 had too much bass. AZ100 came out and reports were that it's more tamed down and not that overwhelming creeping into mids
I have both, and they are about the same bass quantity wise on Direct EQ, same ear tips to my ears. 🤷‍♂️

I doubt many buds will beat the XM4s on bass, even the new XM5's haven't as much bass as the XM4s. I was expecting the AZ80s to be quite bassy though with having the larger drivers than the XM4s

The Gemini 2 do. I thought they were way better than the Sony's. I like the Sony's, but there was a slight fuzziness to them for me. (I am not a basehead). The Gemini's had the power of the Sony's on base, but much more detail and clarity over all.

Well for me I have the bass near full on the AZ80s and I wouldn't mind a little more... And I need to turn down the XM4s bass by about 50% from full to match the AZ80's bass.

@galaxygrrl ... I think the "fuzziness" from the XM4's is due to the ANC or Ambient mode as they make a slight hiss etc when on.... What is sooooooo annoying when turning on the ANC or Ambient with the XM4's is the bass increases loads,, and it was so nice when I got the AZ80's not having bass increase when using these modes

I wonder why i should bother to upgrade from my 80s if they have the same bass

Nah, I was talking about the XM5's. I don't remember the sound profiles of the XM4's, well.
