Only if its below the waistline and above the thighs. Any other place would be much too embarrassing.

Or maybe I should just squelch my curiosity??? What's proper?

What is so interesting in a tatoo??? I do not get it, that is probably why I would never bother in even consider to have one done, maybe an old fashion guy...Do the same as I do, simply ignore them...

What's so interesting about any piece of art?

I get asked that quite frequently; at least a few times a week, if not more. Girls ask the most, but it doesn't bother me, I enjoy using my tattoos as conversation starters; and girls sometimes have tattoos on their back, which means.. well, use your imagination. Nonetheless, I have some really detailed and expensive tattoo's that I love to show off. I usually wear my sleeves rolled up a little bit, to show off the lower parts of the tattoo and the build in my arms. I visit a world-class tattoo specialist, who does exceptional work. He works by appointment only, and it usually takes a month or more to see him.

Need pictures. Not that I wanna see your toned arm, but I wanna see a world class tattoo works.

By the way, I always wonder, how much will it cost to make a full back Yakuza-style tattoo... I'm talking about those colourful, very artsy tattoo. Anyone knows?

I really appreciate that kind of tattoo. I think that's how tattoo should look like, not "I love mum" type of stuff.

Yep - I agree - the ones that catch my attention are the ones with more intricate colors and designs - just like any piece of art.

I'm fully sleeved, so I can relate to the question.

To me, it depends on the motivation of the person asking. If I think someone just considers me a freakshow, it pisses me off. But most people are just genuinely curious, and that doesn't bother me.

What is really nice is when a hot woman comes up and rubs them while they're looking at them. Doesn't happen as much now that I'm getting older, but it's always fun.

What bothers me more is "Oh, did that hurt?" I'm sorry, but what the hell do you think the answer is? Of course it hurt, THEY RAMMED NEEDLES INTO MY FLESH FOR HOURS AT A TIME!!!

So is that to say that the entire American style of traditional tattooing is not art? (See Sailor Jerry Collins, Charlie Wagner, the Bowry Boys, Mike Malone, etc)

Oh, and not all tattoos hurt. Not all of mine haver hurt, and only at the beginning, because I'm not used to it. After a few minutes, it really doesn't hurt at all, unless a tender area is reached.

Then again, I'm biased. I have "the Painproof Man" tattooed across my chest.

I can't say that I've ever minded anyone asking, but one tip - never say "what is that?".

I have an indian arm band and I used to have people ask what it was. Once I told them the say "Oh, yeah". These days plenty of people have arm bands so it's less of an issue.

Seriously, my arm band is not that obscure - but it's a little blury these days after being on my arm for 20 years.
