Takstar HF 580 Planar Headphones

New cable compared to what, the HI-3050 version? The HF-580 has always had an attached Y cable.
No. When I saw it first on AliExpress it had a cable that was attached to only one earcup, the left one IIRC. Maybe I'm wrong.

Sorry, my bad. You are right of course. Has it always been that long? I measured 260 mm from tip of plug to the cable joint.

Hello everyone!

As far as I understand, the Takstar HF 580 should be using the same drivers as the Sivga P-II Headphones, about which I made a review on Youtube! I invite you to read it, and if someone owns both, they can confirm whether they do share any similarities!

Nice features of the SIVGA. If only Takstar would use the same cable options I would be very happy. I also like the headband, it's broader and more comfortable as these planars are quite heavy.

Meanwhile I enjoy my HF580s a lot. Even my humble old Sony DATman with an old 1bit DAC sounds great via the FiiO. Just enough power available in portable mode as I like loud if it is clean sound. in the desktop docking amp it's really powerful.

Hi,

I'm quite happy with the HF580 using the Hiby player but I can't get it to play gapless. I read also that the Onkyo player works with digital output via the USB C. But there are many Onkyo apps on Google play. Which one should I use?

Just got a USB C DAC/amp dongle on AliExpress. Which other free players support DAC/amp dongles you can recommend? I'm not interested in more than 16bit 48k digital formats. Thank you.

P. S. Using a Redmi Note 8 Pro.

Sivga perforated pads for the SendyAudio Aiva (Taobao $18, MusicTek $29, AliExpress $29)
M1060 Sheepskin pads (AliExpress $15)

The Aiva pads would be the preferred choice, as they were made specifically to tune for this driver, and fit well. The sheepskin option apparently requires tape.

Both help with mid-range issues, lift the bass, though the Aiva pads should also help with the highs.

Hi everybody,

Could someone of our knowledgeable members please post a short video how to change the pads of the HF580? I don't trust myself enough to try it without some first hand experience report. It seems easy enough but I want to be sure what I'm doing. Thanks a lot.

Hi everyone!

Could anyone please recommend me desktop preamps for the HF 580? My problem is, that the on-board audio of my PC is not enough for them. I have to bump up the volume to 100, and even then I can barely hear the movies on Netflix for example. My budget is about 100-150$. Thanks :)

There are several options. The old standbys I've seen recommended in that budget are the Magni 3/Hersey, JDS Labs Atom, and Monoprice Liquid Spark. However, since you are in Hungary and all of those companies are USA-based so they might be really expensive to get imported. The Topping L30 would probably be your best bet, although it's pushing your max budget. Specs wise it's probably going to be the last amp you would ever need unless you wanted to go balanced. It's also probably will be easier to get a hold of in your country since it's a China brand. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001285106766.html

Keep in mind if you're struggling to hear 5.1 audio sources like perhaps Netflix, you should try to engage Windows Sonic so all the related audio channels are passed through a HRTF plugin.

This would likely explain why such sources are noticeably quiet. Just remember to disable it again after so stereo sources don't sound recessed in the mid-range.

You can't preamp the audio signal coming out of your sound card's DAC, you're either bypassing the analog circuitry (including its amp) it via something like an optical out, or you're double amping, which even with clean power will amplify whatever issues that sound card has in its chain.

I still think the Magni 3+ is great value even at €140 delivered from Schiit Europe, but you might be able to find a way to shave €10-€20 off that. Stock would be an issue though.

I'd also recommend replacing your sound card with a DAC alongside that, but start with the Windows Sonic test before spending any extra money. :)

@jasswolf Wow, the Windows Sonic option really did work for Netflix, I wish I knew this one before! Funnily enough, even the stereo option on Netflix was quiet, now it's perfect. :D @theangelboy Thank you for the help, maybe I'll buy a Dac-Amp combo, when I have some money to burn, because sadly the import fees and the taxes are astonishingly high in my country ...
