Takstar HF 580 Planar Headphones

I bought 2 pairs of those one for my m1060c(the sheepskin m1060 ones) and one to test with other headphones. I think I prefer the v1 (haven't tried v2) Aiva pads between the two but they aren't bad, just gotta actually stick them onto the locking rings or they easily come off. To be honest though, my m1060c is in my drawer and I just switch between th610, hf 580 and m350 planar iems.

edit: actually after thinking about it just went ahead and closed my m1060c again. They really are pretty fantastic closed planars and while open is a little better its a bit redundant for my current cans to have that many open planars and no closed.

Yeah I had same issue with 1060 pads being too big for rings, sometimes slipping off rings. The other 100mm pair with perforated sides I mentioned in my earlier post are smaller and fit better but because their hole is off centre (not apparent in the marketing pic) I push the pad backwards so there is some overhang at the back (see pic).

Don t use the plastic ring anymore!

1. Remove the headband fromthe earcups
2. Put the ring OVER the side of the earcups.
3. Tape it OVER with good electrical tape to avoid air leakage.
4. Maybe remove the cloth from the earpads. This will fresh the sound bit

I'm not quite following the first few steps... are you referring to the ring that's part of the pad changing system, or something else?

I mean the headband screws.... Get them out of the earcups from the sides. Use a philips screwdriver.....

Its easy..

I will try to mod mine a bit more. Thinking about to remove the back of the grill to make them more open and get rid of the 'hollow' sound.....

Will it help?

detach cable, niiiice!!! what type connection are you using?

2.5, I share cables between my 560 1060c and I figure I may as well use the same cable for this as well. Now though, I think 3.5 has become more common and you can get a damn cheap 3.5mm on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Y6NF4SX (lemme know if you know of anything in this price range for sennheiser/fostex connectors). If I didn't already own a 2.5mm periapt I would have went 3.5mm.

If anyones wondering, its about the same thickness as your average IEM cable and it actually is 6.5 feet long, held it above my head and let the XLR touch the ground, I'm 6'3". Pretty damn cheap as far as balanced cables go. If you're wondering if its a tangle magnet, it sure is.

I see, I was thinking of a proprietary Hifiman connection. So you you mean a 3.5mm still can fit in the housing?

I got new DAC. Topping DX7 Pro but I think my mic battery getting low. Still looks quite promising. It's good sounding, clean and soft enough on treble.

Edit. Mic battery is now fine. A bit more treble seems for the measuring but it does not sound harsh on the treble. Just perfect for my taste but could be more sophisticated. Also the mic position changed slightly.

I haven't heared AudioQuest NightHawk but for me the frequency looks very similar to NightHawk. The bass is very strong with this. Hit like a train. I use 4.4mm balanced output. "I have the power!" :D Normal 6.3mm output was a bit weak.... After mods this is very power hungry headphone.

So with the AliE sale coming up in just under 5 days, what's the verdict on pad choices? Audeze-style sheepskin, perforated sheepskin or perforated microfibre?

Musictek charge USD $50 for shipping the Aiva pads internationally, so that's not happening.

Audeze seems to to be the verdict, but interested in more thoughts.
