ESS thing is implementation based and I wouldn't be too worried about it. That said, I would highly recommend the RME ADI-2, especially the pro version if you need power. It is all in one with excellent DSP features (this is a professional grade device) and you can easily use a battery pack and use it like a portable device, as it uses 12V input. Oh, both ESS and AKM versions sound exactly the same, I have both.Would be interested in hearing some recommendations on SS desktop amps in the $1-2k range that work well with the SolP.
I’m using headphones more and more, so may opt to move from the portable C9 to a full size amp. Key criteria are SS (been down the tube rabbit hole and not keen on going back) and balanced.
Ideally a standalone amp - I don’t mind AIO’a but not a fan of most on the market, in particular since many use ESS DACs which I don’t enjoy, and most don’t have analog in allowing one to bypass the internal DAC. An AIO based on AKM or R2R may be an option.
Any and all suggestions welcome
Thanks. Would one need special cables I assume to use headphones in balanced operation?ESS thing is implementation based and I wouldn't be too worried about it. Yes, I made such a cable to be able to use in balanced mode. As I also have the HPA4, the balanced pro version is in the living room to be used to drive my active speakers. We are mainly using it when me and my wife want to listen to something using HPs at the same time, so it is very seldomly being used in balanced mode.Thanks. With warm nature of the SolP I would consider the GS-X Mini. It is in the upper side of your range but built very well and very transparent sound.Would be interested in hearing some recommendations on SS desktop amps in the $1-2k range that work well with the SolP.

My GS-X MK2 is brilliant with them. With warm nature of the SolP I would consider the GS-X Mini. It is in the upper side of your range but built very well and very transparent sound.
I agree with @musicman59 above, at least with the transparent amp suggestion (as I have not tried the GS-X). HA200 from T+A is also a very transparent amp, so a similar pairing would be the best. But I still think a good integrated PEQ would give you a lot of options to fine tune the P. The DAC version of ADI-2 would be more than enough for the P.Many thanks. These seem quite rare too (especially where I live). For now I’ll probably seek a more “traditional” amp only solution
Agreed, the DAVE is another great pairingthey pair very well with the chord dave for anyone with a dave interested
I have only just discovered Lera Lynn...
geez man her kind of music is right up my alley. only gone thru two of her albums, and all the tracks sound great on the SolP.
