hi guys,

i think we can be little productive with the Bose issues..and discuss what can Bose do to make us reconsider our opinion about them.

it mite be beneficial for them in the long term.

so lets discuss what are the acoustical and other problems u experience(d) with Bose headphones..

and what is the flaw with their products.

why is it that they fail to impress compared to much lower priced products.

maybe they havent read our comments and opinions..so we can email them later on

Their flaw is a house sound that permiates their entire range of products that I have heard, including the noise-cancelling headphones, as well as their "wave" series of radios.

I cannot speak for any of their other products (except their "home theater" cubed speaker systems, which are a different animal altogether, though still very subpar).

I am referring to an antiquated signature that hasnt made any sense since the Disco era, in which bloated, muddled, undetailed (almost ANTI-detailed) bass gives way to some of the world's most recessed mids. Sparkly highs make the phones exciting to be sure, but the overall metallic sound, coupled with completely incorrect timbres that make even a Stradivarius sound synthesized, kill the listening experience.

Build quality is definitely good enough, and I would not hesitate to pay their prices if Bose products didnt have that "crisp" sound to them. That is probably the best word I can use to describe them, actually. Crisp. Perhaps this characteristic is what "wow's" people into buying Bose in the first place, however it is beyond distracting, to the point of being intollerable, for even listening to an audiobook.

Bose: it must have taken years to tweak sound to fit the crispness that your marketing teams deduced were the best for business. Surely you have the capacity to make a "signature series" headphone that is more "palatable" to those of us who care about more accurate sound reproduction, especially in the vocal range.

Easy fix -> Cut prices down to 1/3!

Cause the main problem with BOSE are that they are overpriced for what they are. Bad value for money.

Hehe! I think Bose knows exactly what they are doing, and they are doing good! Why should they change anything? The numbers speak for themselves.

Nothing to the present product lineup, but if they could produce a decent audiophile grade can for around $500 without any frequency tweaking then that is a good place to start with and get some serious appreciations.

exactly. do you guys really expect bose or skullcandy to change their whole company philosophies and goals? minimize costs, maximize profits, use marketing to keep themselves in the good graces of the general public.

Would it be such a disgrace to pick up a used pair for $40 on Craigslist?

Exactly. They don't need the approval of the Audiophile community, more so the middle class. Appealing to Audiophiles won't get you anywhere when you're trying to profit. Nobody is forcing us to buy it, even though their commercials piss me off. I have mixed feelings for Bose.

Really dependent of which BOSE headphone it is.
Example a QuietComfort 3 for $40 is not a bad deal at all.

Exactly. Monster is just like Creative Labs. Neither of them really have much competition, they make decent equipment but mark it highly.

Edited my thread... (shakes fist)

The whole idea is that we make a suggestion and see what these guys say. Chances are they will pretend we know nothing and brush us of as ignorant consumers. Then we will have a concrete reason to hate them rather than just personal experiences.

And if they do listen, everyone is better off.

Yes, they are doing very good. Their main market is not here. Look at this forum, how many members own bose? But look at the world outside, I believe most people know the name of bose, but they never heard about Sennheiser, AKG, beyer......

If everybody become to Head-Fi'er, what a woundful world?

Bose is already tapping into a non-fussy and non-choosy market that would pay high prices for their brand.... and given their current reputation among audiophiles, I don't think it's a good idea to touch said market with the same brand.

Who cares? There are already several good manufacturers for the audiophile market. They get our business and, obviously, Bose doesn't want our business. I don't lecture McDonald's on why I don't eat there, I just don't eat there. It doesn't bother me that others eat McDonald's and it doesn't bother me that people buy Bose.

I still think that Bose should be added to politics, sex and religion as a forbidden topic here. The threads always devolve into garbage. Simply put up a sticky explaining why Bose isn't to be discussed here and be done with it.
