I still think that Bose should be added to politics, sex and religion as a forbidden topic here. The threads always devolve into garbage. Simply put up a sticky explaining why Bose isn't to be discussed here and be done with it.

Listen to Uncle Erik. Focus on Grado, AKG, Sennheiser, Ultrasone, et al. Focus on those that care more about the final product than marketing. Research the best of the best, don't worry about those that did a good job advertising and fooled a lot of the general population, be happy you know of the truly elite brands!

Just the price I would change

As noted before, the Bose sound is pervasive in their entire productions. Their bookshelf speakers sound just as horrendous with bloated bass. Their surround sound media also, that subwoofer weird thing of theirs is terrible and little speakers are all treble and no mids.

I havne't heard their really really expensive speakers, but from whwat I have heard, the Bose bloated bass sound is all pervasive, so I would just suggest they reduce their price, unless they really want to change how they design audio equipment completely.

ROFL, what's all these 'recommendation' for bose to lower their prices?
Are you saying it's in their best interest to lower the prices?
Will that make you buy Bose products?

Fact of the matter is: we're not in their target market. Any urge to 'put them in their place' is just your subconscious screaming for validation from a broader audience (those people who has excess cash and worship Bose)

Exactly. They don't need the approval of the Audiophile community, more so the middle class. Appealing to Audiophiles won't get you anywhere when you're trying to profit. Nobody is forcing us to buy it, even though their commercials piss me off. I have mixed feelings for Bose.

Same and trying to explain that there products is marketing to your parents make it 10x harder as they rather belive the tv ads instead of you.

Have you actually heard the bose 301 and 901? The 301 is actually considerd a half decent speaker for its price. The 901 is $1400 and sounds alright. Spacious but improper imaging, has some detail, and actually not over-bloated in bass depending where you put the 901. Their consumer line (acoustimass, lifestyle) sounds way different than their line of spereate speakers. Your right about the Lifestyle being all treble, all bass. The 901 however uses 9 - 4" midranges and guess what, the midrange was the best part of the speaker.

I think people mis-understood my "ATTENTION BOSE:" post. They actually can keep prices high while offering something new and "better". Like I said, B&O in the loudspeaker buisness is also grossly overpriced. But you will still be truley impressed by the sound. I have a pair of B&O Penta loudspeakers that were $4500 retail. My pair before that was worth about $1800, but had more detail and transparency than my B&O. But at the same time, the B&O's are no slouches either and provide more power, soundstage, smooth sound. So really high prices dont matter unless the sound is actually that bad for the price (Bose). I bet they could market the HD800 the exact same way they did the HE60 and 90, way overpriced but people would still buy it cause it actually is really good.

Bose needs to justify their high prices by making a truley really good sounding product. I was saying I felt Bose lacked this in their current "flagship" lineup.
