Strongest player?

On a side note, the 1st gen shuffle is very "strong." I forgot them in the pocket and did the washing. Nothing was affected, even the battery was still green

comparing the output stats the Samsung S5 only have 20mW @ 16 ohms
while the Cowon D2 is 37mW @ 16 ohms, so i probably think the D2 is probably the strongest, it sounds very good, even on AKG's 55 ohms headphones the output volume is really good.

If player isn't confined to digital storage (e.g. harddrives, flash devices). The old Sony Portatable CDPs (Pre-1992) have alot of juice just from the headphone out alone. My Sony D-50 (not exactly portable), D15 and D40 can go head to head w/ my SR71A in output. I remember the D50 has 10mw at 32 ohms. =)

i think cowon D2 spec. is wrong or a trick, i ever compared this 2 with Beyer Dt770 250 ohms, with cowon D2 i use max volume 50, but when used Samsung S5 i cannot hold until max volume. Don`t too believe with specifications list but test and compare yourself

20mW and 37 mW is nearly 2 times u know

What exactly are we talking about here ? Highest volume level or best chance of driving high impedance/low sensitivity phones ? If its the latter, I'd really shift the focus from the player to either getting a different pair of phones or a portable amp.

Sound quality is the single most important thing in a portable player, IMO. I have several, and they are all capable of volume levels that would permanently damage my hearing with or without canalphones.

As mentioned previously, Cowon has a reputation for putting a lot of grunt through the headphone out, but I really think the OP might be better served by asking what the problem is that needs to be 'solved'.

The SoC that the original Sansa Fuze is based on is specified at 60mW per channel into 16 ohms with a 2.7v power supply. There's no way to know how extensively customized the fuze SoC is though.

The Rio Karma was rated at 55mW/c into 16 ohms.
