I believe he's killing the DIY-kit idea, he's had it up for a while now and it seems to have been counterproductive.

If those are the true specs of D03 then I will get one. I like storm-digital's builds. Of course I will still tweak it

Sigh.. To me, Storm is taking one step forward (USB-I2S) but two steps backward (Tube output, no battery).

TDA1543 NOS vs. PCM1702/4 is more of a sideways thing, I'll grant you..

Perhaps he can put the USB-I2S on D02?

The battery doesn't make that much of a difference on the D02. It is extremely subtle.

The D03 is an option for those who want it, it's not a forcefeed. The D02 will still be there, and there will be USB-I2S

You mean there will be USB-I2S on the DO2 soon? When? That would be the one for me..

If you only hear "subtle" difference with battery, is it possible that even in AC mode, the battery is wired in series as to act as battery-buffer? Battery-buffered AC systems can sound very close to battery-only.

I believe battery-operation's benefits are most audible with speakers b/c the main benefits are complete liquification of haze and grain in the soundstage between images. It's so startling that I once heard it like a sledgehammer while I was walking back to my listening seat just after switching from AC to DC.

What is this USB I2S that I keep hearing about? Is it just a better interconnect or does it not work with standard USB ports?
