I've found a Stax sr 80 / srd 4. Given that it works, is it worth it?

I already have a pair of SR-001s, love the sound, but I'm wondering if the SR 80s pick up the slack from the 001s.

For $50 it is not a terrible deal. I bought a pair of the sr-40's, they are much older Stax electrets. I was never really that impressed with them. I am sure that the SR-80's sound better than my old SR-40's ,but probably not enough to make them listenable on a regular basis.

And even if you don't like them I am sure you can sell them for at least that, if not more. I have seen some of the SR-30/80's going for upwards of $100 on ebay.

I hope, you bought it. It was a bargain. If it is ok allover, you will enjoy it and never regret, you got it. Maybe you will not find it the best for all music, but always good. This model was a bit overlooked for the more fancy and expensive bígger models.
It does not have the same comfort for your ears like so many others, so it shall be your no. 2-headphone, but for highend-listening - well, I can only say: try it!
