Finally! Even tho Tidal has done a good job the last few years with new features. For maybe 3-4 years It felt like you had to sacrice a lot of features just to get Tidal Hifi, not so much today.

So for me it will be more of a pricing question, along with SQ obviously.

I'll believe it when I believe it. They've been talking about this for years already. Qobuz isn't even available here. scamazon HD doesn't do bit perfect.

Streaming is in pathetic shape. You would think serious companies would get their collective heads out, but not happening.

Below is the full announcement. Don't get too ahead of ourselves, no one is promising Hi-Res / HD, just "Hi-Fi"

Artists and fans have told us that sound quality is important to them. We agree, and that’s why today at Stream On we announced Spotify HiFi.

Beginning later this year, Premium subscribers in select markets will be able to upgrade their sound quality to Spotify HiFi and listen to their favorite songs the way artists intended.

Read on for five things you need to know about our new high-quality music experience:

  1. High-quality music streaming is consistently one of the most requested new features by our users.
  2. Spotify HiFi will deliver music in CD-quality, lossless audio format to your device and Spotify Connect-enabled speakers, which means fans will be able to experience more depth and clarity while enjoying their favorite tracks.
  3. Ubiquity is at the core of everything we do at Spotify, and we’re working with some of the world’s biggest speaker manufacturers to make Spotify HiFi accessible to as many fans as possible through Spotify Connect.
  4. HiFi will be coupled with Spotify’s seamless user experience, building on our commitment to make sure users can listen to the music they love in the way they want to enjoy it.
  5. Spotify HiFi will begin rolling out in select markets later this year, and we will have more details to share soon.

My guess is just good old fashion lossless 16/44.1 FLAC.

If they have a bit-perfect redbook tier for less than 10 euros I would be up for it.

I bet Audirvana will not add support for Spotify still even if it is HD.

I am currently using Tidal, but I will looking around for other streaming services once my Promotion ends.

the absolute distance to la douce France is likely what makes them decide to set up shop in a country or not....(I assumed they are pretty much everywhere)

try Qobuz, sounds a lot better than Tidal

Yes, but Qobuz tricked me a while ago with a 30-day free promo deal and then charging the full price on my credit card.

I had to get my money back by complaining to my credit card company that I was scammed by Qobuz.

So I am not a big fan of Qobuz anymore to be honest.

And the price Tidal currently has offered me (it is even way less than Apple music), it was too hard not to take it.

I hope Spotify HiFi is the real deal as it could be a great alternative to Tidal and Qobuz.

I'm completely fine with CD quality only for spotify playlists and their recommendations. Can finally end Qobuz sub then which i have to buy over a friends credit card because they only support two payment methods.
