Since this is a pub, what do you drink while relaxing to music? I'm a homebrewer, so can nerd out about beer or whiskey (or single malt whiskies). I tend to have an IPA and stout on tap. While ordering some equipment off a website, I tried getting a clone recipe for a Rogue Brutal Bitter (kind of a dark IPA). Recently tapped it, and have never had the actual beer. I'll be taking it to visit my parents at the end of the month: think both my parents will like it (with my mom it's harder since she likes hoppy IPAs and not much else).

I don’t really drink anymore (it takes too much out of me), but in my state, recreational pot becomes legal on July 1. :-)

Ha ha....I had a close friend I brewed with that's a pothead. One time he was drinking and smoking while we were brewing: I had to tell him to just leave and I'll do the brewing (the two just don't mix...and I only drink water while brewing). Never got into pot. Few times I got high, didn't like the lethargy. I appreciate beer since it can be low alcohol for sipping, and has quite a lot of variety.

One of my favorite concerts I went to was New Years eve at The Fox here in Atlanta. Susan Tedeschi and Dereck Trucks. They also have a good set with an Eric Clapton Crossroads blu-ray for fans of live concerts:

And as far as a theme: this is one of my favs:

I was here. Best. Concert. Ever. For me personally.

Yeah, it's interesting how much our best nostalgia is just being there at an event (and how any session of listening to music is different). With classical music, I really like Neville Marriner's Mozart recordings. Did try getting some newer recordings of concerts that were DDD on SACD, but still moved more towards Marriner. Had a good seat for a peformance of Atlanta's symphony of Mozart's Requiem with the choir. Had some chills about how the director also had a similar interpretation and me seeing it live.

For me Chopin etudes are the bomb.

When I was in my 20s, I was really into classical guitar. I was fortunate enough to learn Segovia methods at UGA when I was there for a year with a science grant (which actually has a top classical guitar department in the country). Have seen all the greats and their different interpretations of classical guitar (or LAGQ, which likes to get into new experimental pieces). But even before, I was fortunate enough to see Julian Bream during my undergrad (and it's really interesting to hear his interpretations with spruce top guitar and background with lutes).

Then there is this!! 🙂

Ah yes, I remember this. Also remember this before flash mobs and the proliferation of social media:

I played some classical guitar. I was terrible. IMHO. One of life’s lessons—some people can run faster and jump higher and that’s just the way it is. But I don’t love music (or life) any less for it. :-)

I saw Segovia once.

Actually my favorite guitar is jazz guitar by a long shot. I also played jazz guitar terribly. IMHO. I saw hundreds of jazz concerts.

I was at the Residents' 13th Anniversary Show with Snakefinger when one of the eyeball heads was stolen.

And I spend New Years Eve with Cheap Trick in 1978/79

And Birgit Nilsson at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium
