I haven't played a game in months. if you want to e-play, I believe I cleverly hide myself as castleofargh on chess.com. I only play 3days/turn games because there is like a law in the universe saying that if I wish to spend 40mn focusing on a game, that's exactly when 10 people I haven't seen in years will decide to consecutively come knock at the door to bring me to Mordor for some ring matter. so I've simply stopped trying to play anything resembling real time games.

and if you win I'll act like a proper chess player and tell everybody that you're a cheater. :innocent:

Okay, okay. Give me week to practice. I'm a little rusty. Do you have a sense of the rating I'll need to play up to in order to beat you? Then I will decide if I need to cheat or not.

to beat me from time to time it's easy, you just have to play. I will surely screw up massively all on my own because that's what I do. I have the focus of a puppy.
to beat me most of the time even when I'm mad at you and really trying to win, I'd say a stable 1600elo on that website. or simply know some opening really well and stick to it. because I know more openings(build order) in Starcraft, Age of Empire and Civilization, than I do in chess:sweat_smile:. so yeah, fear me!
I checked and they didn't throw me out for never playing, so if somebody wants to waste even more time than he already does with Head-fi, give me your nickname on chess.com and prepare to be disappointed by my skill.

Okay, okay, I’m scared. I will ratchet up my pc chess programs to 1600 and as soon as I win even one game I’ll let you know. Don’t hold your breath though.

Fritz just rated me as 1920 in "easy mode" but as you can see that's ridiculous, I played a horrible game. I'll practice against something more rigorous.

Okay. . . my studies continue, I just went 1-1 against Josh, age 8, rated ELO 1600, in Chessmaster Grandmaster edition (a truly wonderful old chess game and a masterpiece of software design, IMHO), and I have no idea how I have it working under Windows 10).

But I swear, sometimes I am really awful. I have to play consistently against the tougher levels before I am ready for @castleofargh . I can play a really, really bad game of chess. Usually I am too curious about fiddling with chess engines, their parameters, the softwares, etc.

I even lose at solitaire.

Three ignores in one night. I'm on a roll. Bring back Gruss Gott. I'll ignore him too.

Sorry to interrupt your Chess game guy's, but...

Psychology is the only way to make sense of this site, go and read some of the threads in the main forums there is some very strange cult like behavior going on.

Yeah. I've been away from Head-Fi for the better part of a year, and coming back and seeing how this has developed is quite unsettling really - I mean there was always a certain amount cultish behaviour with regards to certain manufacturers, but it seems to have exploded of late.

Still at least there's threads like these where I can come to and realise that not everybody has gone mad.

Keep an open mind... we might be crazy too!

Here's a fun video where some guys experiment with sound amplified by a horn. Pretty amazing.
