Sound Rhyme impression thread

I've been listening to my SR5 for a week. It sounds a little too bright (?) to me, or maybe something with the treble region, makes it fatiguing at times. Is it just me, or do you guys notice similar characteristics?

I've tried a few tips: final e, spinfit cp145&w1, azla xelastec, feaulle h570, fiio hs18. No luck.

You can reduce the treble by using eq. I recommend -3dB in the 3000-5000hz region.

Try a copper cable or an impedance adapter. I went with 3.5 single end and adapter. It help with lowering the treble and increasing the bass. or you can listen to it at a lower volume. Reference below

Thanks! I use M for most tips. Tried a few S tips but found them too small. Bass was much weaker with S tips.

It is the best for mid-heads. The treble is still really top notch. Putting on the SR5 is always such an experience as it excels across the entire spectrum.

You need to change the cable.
I'm using a cheap NiceHCK 16-5 cable, while my new cables don't arrive.

Also after trying a bunch of tips, including the H570, the ones I'm using now are the TRI Clarion.

The SR5 are amazing and the treble it's not overwhelming I assure you.

The thing with the smaller tips, is the distance between the drivers and the eardrums @AmericanSpirit could give you a better explanation about this, as I'm no native English speaker (or writer). The trick would be, to experiment with short stemm tips (like Azla short, vivid, crystal, or use the atomic option Azla Earfit max, they kill a lot of trebble)

I totally agree. Overall diameter, diameter of the opening, the length all affect the sound. The spinfit usually have very long stem, and alza/feaulle have much shorter stem. But the first thing is always to find the right size to achieve good seal. Smaller tips totally kill bass for me.

I tried ofc copper, copper w/ silver coating, pure silver cables. They sound very similar to me. My understanding is cable has the lowest performance/price ratio regarding tuning. You really have to invest $$$ to slightly change the sound signature. 99% of the cables in the market don't affect the sound very much, as long as they are properly made, with low impedance. Or maybe I just have bad hearing

Good cables do improve the sound of high end in ears such as the SR5. In fact I can hear the difference between cables immediately. My best Xinhs cable is at the moment connected to my desktop amplifier. In my opinion it sounds so good that I would prefer if it stays connected at all times and I only replace the IEM hooked up to it.

8 core mono crystal copper and silver mixed for a good sound on all frequencies.

I do ear a difference between most cables. Some ruin the sound of the IEMs (I´m looking at you LN006247 8 cores 99.99% Pure Silver Earphone Cable) others improve the sound of some IEMs (the NiceHCK SuperBlue its very good with the Timeless OG but did nothing for my Toneking TK16S).

The length of the Stem in combination with the nozzle also define the insertion-Depth which also change the sound. That was the thing I wanted to point out. the Azla max are taming treble (and a bit of soundstage) with their dark tuning. The other alternativ would be Spinfit CP360 which are also a lot darker than the W1 or 145.
I personally switched from Azla short light to TRI Clarion and settled with the small bore Azla vivid. The W1 and 145 were to deep for my ears and the Azhla Short light and TRI Clarion were to sparkling for my ears.
