I’ve contacted Penon who have said they will send out replacement filters. They’ve always been great, top quality service. No idea how to replace a filter so hope I don’t manage to do any damage or change the sound signature.
I’m not one who believed in burn in, but the bass on these is just getting better and better. It’s hitting hard now! I think I was also listening to tracks where bass wasn’t overly boosted in the mix anyway.
Great find @AmericanSpirit, thanks for sharing with the community.
Here is a visual guide of how to replace a filter: hope it helps

just stick a nail 🧷 into one of those filter’s small hole and pull it. Old filter will be deformed, then you stick a new filter from the top.
For potential Aria buyer and current owner, if you missed, like I did:
Aria’s user guide states “LCP drivers perform poorly in terms of distortion and fidelity right out of box, it needs 100 hours of burn-in” and with burn-in instructions. So people, please do not just post out-of-the-box reflex impressions and leave Aria in the dust, it’s not how it supposed to sound.

it also comes with outer filter(hex iron one) and inner filter (acoustic filter) spares, so you can feel freely to try out removing hex outer filter mod.(note: only outer hex iron filter! The inner white mesh acoustic filter needs to stay, I removed that white mesh and it made sound out of balance, bass got ruined.)

@AmericanSpirit i Had Arete MkV that came with Fiba7 ultimate and i really like that cheap cable with many iem.
I was very interested on Null Flagship but not sure i'd spend that moneys.

I'm still considering Eplsilon and Symphony Tiburon, and DTE500 if it's not bass shy ofc :)

Yes Eplison also was my another interest, but I just made a NiceHCK flagship Dragonscale cable purchase, so I’d give it a break for a while.

DTE500 uses the driver like the one you find in MEST MKII, very organic and powerful performing DD. The bass level is natural and not as hard slamming as like Variations, but it can be buffed by cables.

I found one aftermarket measurement of DTE500, it’s with the foam ear tips so treble measurements should be considered that fact.

DTE500 really has top notch resolution that tells how Sonion EST65 shall be implemented, and now I’m convinced Thieaudio / Moondrop is still amateur in those field. While Empire Ears and Sound Rhyme (used Empire Ears voltage multiplier ) has expertises in fully utilizing Sonion EST.

UM somehow supplemented “lack of energy“ of EST by bone conduction driver’s back up, so that’s another story, but when it comes to “pure EST” performance, Sound Rhyme has nailed it. At sub$500 to beat internationally popular Thieaudio / Moondrop is very impressive achievement. For EE, yea..if you pay couple of grants for sure, but diminishing return is questionable.

I’d like a punchy bass, dynamic and not slow, when I had Mk2 with M8 was love and hate and I didn’t like that much it’s mids.
Another good set would be EST50 that has same DTE driver config but I think very different tuning

DTE500 is actually more sophisticated than typical 3way 2EST + 2BA + 1DD Penta driver tribrid.

Sound Rhyme DTE500 spec: 4way crossover 3 acoustic tube
▶︎UHF/HF | 2 x Sonion EST65 powered by Empire Ears developed Voltage multiplier EIVEC
▶︎Hi-MID | 1 x High BA : Knowles ES30095
▶︎Lo-MID | 1 x Mid BA (Sound like Sonion to me) : Sonion 2300
▶︎BASS | 1 x 3-layer composite DD ( Sound like the one used on MEST MKII), same to MEST MKII, it has driver flex as a side effect

For bass it’s as much as you can expect from MKII, of course DTE500’s bass is not backed by dCB, so it‘s not like MKII’s layered bass, but except that part, bass quality is pretty high. I played MQA orchestral and it satisfied me in contrabass texturing performance; poor DDs simply can’t keep up on those quality bass textures

Hi my friend,
Do you think will you listen DTE500
I’m following it and would be interesting a comparison with EST50
https://penonaudio.com/sound-rhyme-dte500.html

Dont have the DTE500, if it were not for some other releases im saving for I would bought it.

If it helps, EST50 has bass that is very fun, its more sub focused than mid bass. But still retain that fullness in the mid bass that typical Harman tuned IEMs do not have.
As for how it decays, its slower than FAN 2 and more similar to Penon Serial in decay.
Female vocals is a little behind versus how the bass and treble is, male is better.
While instruments sound very right in the mid range.
Pina Gain as you can see is very gentle, I can not find any music fatiguing on this.
Treble is a little dark but still remains finesse and detail.

I don't love it as much as the Neon Pro, but I highly like the EST50. Its bold fun and has drown a good line where bass isn't destroying the rest of the ranges.

Wow congratulations 👏👏
It looks amazing 😍
Indeed! If my VX weren’t same theme colored, I’d gone for the silver one for sure, very gorgeous!

Congrats Javier, i follow DTE500 with high interest.
Will you compare it with Aur and Penon iems?
Sure once I get my AüRs back from tour.

Penon Serial, Impact, Fan2, Fan OG are the only ones i have.

I love FAN2 plugged to N7 and DX320X too it would be helpful a comparison with DTE500 to know more about SR tuning and presentation

Greaaaat! That’s the familiar looking FR I was so desperately wanted! Yes my ear wasn’t broken. It sounds exactly as that FR measures.
