why are you so shure the h3  is an upgrade to xba40?

It will definitely be an upgrade! The 16mm LCP driver in the H3 will produce better bass and will contribute to the sound stage as it is also producing mid frequencies, Then the mid range and treble BA's which will have been better tuned in the H3 compared to the XBA-40. So over all I can imagine a very powerful sound.

About 1.5 time bigger than the ex1000 from the picture.

Well, it looks like what you'd expect if you crossed a beauty like the EX1000 with a beast like the XBA-40...

I hope it's lightweight though!

I don't think weight will be an issue but the size probably is (for some people, esp the thing sticks out from ears). Speaking of weight, with the EX1000 I almost feel weightless even for long hrs of wearing. EX1000 is the most comfy of all the iem's I have tried so far.

Specs have the H3 at 2g heavier than the XBA-4 (10g vs 8g) - the MDR-7550 is also listed at 8g - not sure how the shape/balance affects the pressure on the outer ear, especially with the cord attached - but the hangers ought to mitigate it appreciably.

There shouldn't be any felt pressure just like the EX1000. These Sony iem's are designed to provide a snug tight seal (I guess for comfy) without being intrusive to your great ears. The snug tightness is maintained with the help from the over-the-ear cable restrainers.

Placed my order for the XBA-H1 on Amazon -US... Delivery estimates show to be next week. I'll be sure to give a  quick comparison to the 40s, and maybe what I remember of the XBA30s, T-PEOs-H200s. I've effectively consolidated my gear to be the XBA-40s/Imod 6G Custom Flash 128GB Rockboxed Ipod (<1 UF Film Caps)/JDS Labs C5, thats been my end all rig for the past 6 months.

I'll wait until XBA-H3s reviews to come in before dropping $$
