Remember that the EX-1000 has the thinnest possible and most stable housing made fro Magnesium Alloy. The H3 in contrast seems to have a standard plastic housing that needs to be much thicker to be stable. But the fit seems to be equal. that alone make for 200 $ price difference.

Looks like I need to stock one more pair of the EX1000. Any idea on how to clean the EX1000? I took the tips off the other day and the nozzles looked nasty. Good thing is the nastiness has not affected SQ.

Do these have open venting like the mdr/ex series? If not they might be better isolating and less prone to wind noise.

Here you can see on the left the vent of the H3.
The picture is from the below link where you can see many more pictures and
short impressions about the all 3 headphones (In japanese of course).

It was bad timing from my side to get back into the high-end portable audio game... Too many new things coming out... too many choices!!!
The H1 or the H3? There's still the EX-1000/MDR-7550's and oh Audio-Technica is coming out with the ATH-IM01 to IM04's. Then there's source to think of too...
My Amazon basket has never received so many changes.

H1 improves by a lot over straight off iPod touch with a good dac/amp. It's worth the $149 usd to own.

Why all of these bits and pieces of impressions? Can you give us a paragraph or two of your first or initial impressions of the sound? Geesh! I'm just asking. It may not be your intention, but it seems like you're stringing us along.
