Sony XBA-H1 and XBA-H3 Hybrid Dynamic and BA IEM

I only briefly heard the EX1000 but I have owned the EX600 and XBA40 and clearly preferred the later.

Well, EX600 wasn't meant to be a flagship, but XBA-40 and EX1000 was. But I can see how you relate EX600 and XBA-40. Their street prices are similar. XBA40 and MDR7550 would probably be a fair comparison. XBA40 is current BA flagship while MDR7550 is current dynamic flagship. But IMO, 7550 destroys XBA40.

XBA-4 is not better than EX1000. That's why we have high hopes for H3. Of course, my wallet's not happy. I'll try to do a review as soon as they are released(if I can get a pair).

yes, I agree with you.
EX1000 is the best earphone of sony I have ever heard now and also I expect H3 and want to try if it is better or not...
I hope you can get a pair early and at the same time your wallet's happy as well~
me too :)

Never particularly impressed by the EX-K. I hope the H3 sets a higher standard. The LCD driver however is a win in the MDR-1R.

I'd disagree. Some say it has more treble presence than the er4s. I think there is plenty of treble but I'd like to hear more upper mids.
It's masked by the mid bass. The cross valve mod should change this.

Anyway, if Sony is going to use the ex1000 driver, I hope they leave the bass response untouched. The ex1000 simple has the best bass I've heard. Extended and delicate, yet effortless.

Every time someone quotes Rin's ASG-2 analysis, I just want to shoot a baby. Yet, I have to go listen to my treble test tracks to remind myself of what I know to be true.

I may have to kick off a mini US tour leg...for science and stuff.

RE the H3, I'm pretty excited. I wish it were Vsonic doing this with their bio-cellulose driver, but Sony's dynamic drivers are masterful. Me and a buddy were talking the other day about how crazy it would be if the H3 upset the K3003.

Ok, I would just like this clarified:

You all know that the EX1000 guy is behind this H series, but not a one of you has a source for where they got this information.

Does that sound about right?

The guy had told Rin he had been working on something that will be released soon via twitter a month back, he didn't specifically say its these, but he had worked on all the vertical dynamic flagships to this point.

Me too. I have a feeling that this phone would be something more U shaped, akin to the 1P2 than the K3K though. Just the translated Japanese impressions seem to suggest that

Like I said, seems like there is some pretty strong bass/treble emphasis?

But, but, what if he was working on an EX2000?
You know, they'd resemble Mickey Mouse ears, with 32mm diaphragms, and every single time you wear them to Tokyo Disney, you get in for half price!

LOL, I don't know what your intention was but now I can dream a little more clearly.

I understand the vagueness of the situation but at least he gave something worth making note of.

ahhh, missed that post. Yea, what I got from that by omission is that  "Mids are aight, I guess."

Oh, there wasn't a "point" to the comment, at least not with regard to whether it was actually the EX1000 designer doing the H1/H3. I actually thought about a massive pair of dynamic IEMs --- I've always thought the EX line looked funny. While everyone here's excited about the H3, I can't imagine the general population wearing it around.
