Sony XBA 3SL/4SL (and why I bought the 3SL instead of the 4SL) Impressions

Now Sony has to be one those huge Corporations...capable of manufacturing a warm and cold iem...at the same time

One division sells balanced armature earphones

And the mobile division sells players with 13 ohms of output impedance. huh?

Hello!  Everyone.  I am new to Head-Fi and this is my first reply~ :D

Does anyone here know if there is any review about Sony XBA-3SL/XBA-4SL vs. Sony MDR-EX1000?  (Or XBA-4SL vs. Sony MDR-EX1000)

Among XBA-3SL and XBA-4SL, I guess I am more into XBA-4SL, by reading numerous reviews.  However, I would like to see a comparison between XBA-4SL and Sony MDR-EX1000, before I decide which one to buy.

Seems like there is not much interest in the XBA series. I picked the XBA-3 over the 4 because metal music sounded so strange on it. It sounded too bright for the genre of music I listen to.

Recently, I have owned the XBA-3 and xBA-4 and the 1000s. I've also owned the SE535, Westone 4s, Grado GR10s and UM3s. I chose the xBA-4s over all of these for clarity, depth and detail and above all AIR. As sweet as the SE535s may sound, to me they were too condensed with absolutely no air at all between instruments or vocals. For imaging and FUN, XBA 4s are for me. And no, they're anything but cold.

Compared to the 3s, far more detail at all registers as that fourth driver spreads things out and let's the remaining three do their jobs without clutter.

So you like the Sony XBA-4 better than the Sony MDR-EX1000?

   thanks for the reply .
i like the signature of ue700 , but want a bit more treble , i like the bass and mid of ue 700 , its a bit bright , my fav signature is of meelec cc51  and m9 , and how annoying is the uneven cable ?
can you compare these three , please . one of my friend has a ex-600 , i like it pretty much but its a bit too bright and light . is the xba-3 like the ex-600 ?

Can you elaborate a bit further, how important is the seperation and imaging of the UE700 to you?

If the UE700 is like blu-ray definition on a sharp TV screen, the XBA-3 is a VHS tape.  The EX600 has a clarity spike somewhere around 7kHz, but it doesn't have the sizzle of UE700 which is higher treble boost.
