SONY WH1000XM3 - better than QC35 in noise cancelling?
May 30, 2020 at 11:19 AM Post #1,937 of 2,082
anyone installed the 4.5.2 update?
Took over 30m ... flat EQ sounds like it has less bass but not sure since I never use it?
Anyone else notice a difference in sound?

I did install it too. Maybe you’re right, not sure though. I only notice the “flat” when for some reason my EQ setting stops and it defaults to “flat” and the bass becomes boomy. Will have to experiment a little..

I noticed a slight increase in treble and mids cleared up a smidge. They are still to dark for my tastes but better than before.

I’m surprised this thread isn’t that active considering how popular these cans have been with consumers.

Question, on your app, what settings do you guys have on your Sony App EQ FOR iOS to achieve audiophile sound or close to it even if it isn’t possible? I figured music genres would orchestral remixes of game music and punk or hard rock. Can anyone snap screenshots of their ideal EQ settings on the Sony App?

Here are the specs I used in my EQ to try to hear all the instruments as evenly as my ears could pick up. The 16K and and Clear Bass I think would be the two bands that would need any tweaking for people, depending if they want to adjust the low bass or and adjust the cymbals or hi-hats for example on the other end. I used this song for reference:

This may not work for everyone, but I tried to figure out how to get the best sound possible out of these cans while making sure there is no bass heavy sound signature:

EQing these in the Sony app knocks the cans down to SBC btw. Which is...horrific.
I notice no degradation and my wife said the instruments can be heard across the spectrum.

Anybody try USB Audio Player Pro? It may not with EQ. Please check with it.

I guess if you have to use AAC, you are probably on an iPhone that has limited codec options.

Even if it doesn't work well, USB Audio Player Pro is a software very worthwhile having.

It's only available on Android after checking their homepage.

That's not true, still AAC with EQ with my iPhone X.
BUT the DSEE HX is being turned off with EQ in use.

with android, if we use the EQ it will switch to SBC only. i don't really mind though, better to have EQ and SBC than having LDAC but have to stuck with the stock sound

luckily after this last update it seems the midbass boom sounds a bit lighter, so now the non EQd sound doesn't bother me too much.
i use LDAC and EQ using Wavelet now with the WHXM3 (and also most of my other BT TWS and headphones)

This was my attempt... they sound pretty decent when EQ’d - and indeed the settings persist when used with other devices.

How long should the battery last when the headphones are powered off? I mostly use these cans for my daily work commute, but I've been working from home for the past few months. I really only used these headphones once every 2-4 weeks now. My headphones turn on and say full power, but ~10 minutes later, the voice says "battery low, please charge now". Should I recharge them and let them sit? Or should I wait and just charge them an hour or so before I use them?
