Sony WF-1000XM5

Using outside and so far these out perform the Elite 10 by a good margin. They handle wind better (no big wind today though, so real test yet to come) and when I want to the store they seemed to cancel the sounds around me better and allowed me a much quieter noise floor.

Despite some frustrations I am starting to like these more and more.

Curious. When you go to a store, why would you want to cancel the noise. Isn't that noise the sound of the world?

EXACTLY... 😉 LOL.

Sometimes I just let in the sound of all the carts and chatter. But it is kind of nice to just listen to music while shopping. But more than anything it's just a good test bed if you want to how a headphone handles day to day noise...

So I am having a reverse honeymoon with the WF-1000XM5. I was really unhappy out of the box. But after a couple resets of the headphone and full removal and reinstall of the app the basic functions are all working and the feature not working is the Amazon Music feature which is just a nice to have feature that no other TWS has anyway.

In regards to sound I have always liked Sony and these sound quite a bit better than the XM4 in my opinion... I am now leaning towards keeping these. Will wait and see if the issues I was having come back... but maybe they stay...

The ANC and low noise floor is quite a bit better than the Elite 10 and they seem to handle wind better too. Where I live this is pretty critical for me.

Unfortunately LC3 stutters when paired with a Pixel 8.
Does anyone have it working correctly with their phone?

Works fine on my Samsung S23

I am normally a wired IEM user but bought a set of XM5 duty free when returning after a holiday last October. I haven’t used them much but recently started messing with EQ in the app to try and make them closer to my preferred sound with wired IEM.

I ended up with the below which was based on an EQ I saw a page or two back but with a tiny touch more bass than in that suggested EQ offset by a bit more treble to add a little top end sparkle which is my preference.

Might be worth a try for someone.

Actually it's quite nice, it's nicely spacious.
I was testing 0, +1, +2, +3, +4

Thank you for suggestion.

Got the AZLA ASMR tips today. As comfy as the original Sony hybrid tips with a bit more isolation and these protect the nozzle.

Will have 2 AB a bit one day to see the difference in sound. Early differences are maybe more bass, not sure about mids a treble.

These fit very well. Expensive, given what they are but, look like they will fit other TWS, so a good investment for a TWS nerd...

Not a big foam tip guy and Foamax were even more expensive so stuck with what I know I like.

Well, listening to a few more songs while watching hockey with the TV cranked as a test and these definitely isolate better! Musically I am noticing guitars and some percussion better, things just seem crisper. So I am thinking these will upgrade the sound all around. Great tips.

But will do the proper A/B analysis at some point. Just to tired tonight...

Must be ALZA week! The AZLA SednaEarfit XELASTEC 2 came in while I was out of town and just started using these yesterday. I had been using Comply foams and felt I was missing something. The stock Sony tips had been OK on the XM4 for me but for some reason just didn't seal well on the XM5. I've also tried SpinFit CP360s.

So far these have been great! Fit well, very well supported and almost suction to my ear. I felt that once the Comply got soft from body heat, they didn't stay in place very well.

External noise blockage is much better when I'm on the Subway commuting.

Paying $28 for some ear tips seems pretty ridiculous but I am happy with my purchase.
