Hi all, is it worth to connect a WM1A to PHA3 to drive more hungry powerful headphones?

Yes, the PHA3 is able to drive my HD800 much better than both the 1A and 1Z including 1AM2. Anything else more than 300 OHMs maybe a tad much for the PHA-3 though. The key to get the best sound from the PHA3 is to use very high quality USB cable. Despite its charging issues and rather short battery life, the PHA-3 is still very legit today. It sounds very spacious, details, with precise spatial cues.

What high quality usb cable do you recommend?

I recommend silver USB cable. I made my own from an old Moon Audio silver dragon headphones cable.

Also, is the PHA3 strong enough to drive the Audeze LCD-2C? What type of balanced cable do I need to get for it?

I also use the ZX300 into the PHA3 too with a custom made USB walkman digital cable.

Thanks everyone! I ordered a new Audeze LCD-2C and a used CIB Sony PHA-3! One more question. Where can I purchase a balanced cable for the 2C and PHA-3?

Just picked up an AC version of the PHA-3 for £120. Listening to UAPP via balanced cable with MDR-Z7. Very detailed, amazing soundstage, and very comfortable to listen to for extended periods. I own the TA-ZH1ES. I missed the PHA-3 first time around, but I gotta say I'm very impressed by how it stacks up against its bigger brother.
