Hi guys

Has anyone discovered yet how to access the service menu on an E.U F806 or a safe way of installing Japanese firmware on it with a view to bypassing the volume limit?

I found this LOD cable but apparently the line out level of this is set to the same as the volume cap and would need a similar cable with pins 20 & 21 connected to access the USB audio functionality.

Thanks

Thanks

That's not going to help you.  I have the F807 with no volume limit, and the line out is still like half of the iPods.

Are we to assume that the usb audio pins would deliver the same level of output as the standard LOD cable I linked above?

I can use my Fiio E17 amp/dac which gives me the sound I'm looking for most of the time but it's too heavy to carry both components whilst exercising for example and was just looking for a way to boost the level a bit there as I can hear the gym's sound system faintly above my headphones and it detracts from the immersion of what I'm trying to listen to.

Any English language Japanese firmware roms floating around?

The problem is that I can never the my F807 to work with any Android able DAC so I don't really know, and of course you already know about the weak WM-PORT to 3.5mm LOD.  I am not aware of any firmware refresh for the F806 with F807 ones.

What audio from the USB pins? Do you mean via an external DAC?

As for the LOD pins, yes, I have found that the line output of these units is measurably 6dB lower than they should be. At least that's what I discovered with my F807.

Are there any options for an external DAC for the F-series?

I am not 100% on this, but it is unlikely.  I have a CEntrance HiFi-M8 LX coming in Nov and I will test it out then.  However, both my V-MODA VERZA and VentureCraft SounDroid Typhoon failed, even with the OTG adapter.

Sweet news!!!!
The Walkman F has been rooted with the latest software version.
Take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1981328&page=6

The tool can be found here: http://www.mgyun.com/vroot

Also, if anyone could try it on their Z and report back, it'd be very much appreciated. I can't cuz I don't have computer access ATM.

Happy Rooting :D

Nice, no more of those 1 button root crap that needs a server connection to China.
