I never use effects or equalisers but I am pretty sure they are general and will affect spotify..

PS: just tried it out now and it does work. You can actually access the effects from within Spotify's settings.

Also, I just found the Sony Walkman NWZZ1050 for £119, its red but its quite a bit cheaper, what are the differences between the new F series and the Z1050? I can't get the 32GB F series in the UK, no idea why but no one has it, sony.co.uk appear to have no more F series in stock, think I bought the last one.

Hmm according to this review the sound effects only work with sonys own apps.

It depends how important having a smaller unit is to you as you will get less for more money. Smaller screen so it won't be much use for anything else than listening to music, no HDMI out. The F should have slightly better battery life and faster transfer rate I believe.

Any comparisons with new Sony E470, E570, S 770?

E570 is higher end E series with Noise Cancelling.
E470 series is the basic E series. (There's one model which has a speaker dock included - E473K)
S770 is the Bluetooth enabled one.

I guess these lose to the F android series (obviously), mainly because the F has extra features such as S-Master Amplifier and others that were also present in the A Series.

I'm getting the E474 tomorrow, as I read a few of the reviews, the newer E470 loses to the older E460 series due to decreased battery life (rated 36 hours vs rated 50 hours), the E470 is slimmer though, but I guess everything else is the same.

I really hoped they didn't discontinue the Z and X series walkmans....

The X was discontinued long time ago, while the Z was discontinued in the USA just before the new year.  The F walkman is only the sole flagship.  The A86x series was also discontinued last year.

Ah sorry that didn't came out right on my part (not native speaker), I hoped that they would not discontinue those models, but it is very sad that they have, as those models were very good. A successor would've been appreciated, but they just took it off the production line. It's also sad that the mid range A86x series is also discontinued :(

No worries.  I'm not sure what will come with the new crops of Sony walkman as Sony continues to price their top of the line out of reach for most people.  I personally still own the S, X, A, F, and Z.  I enjoy the F the most following buy the Z.  Will need to get rid of the X and the S walkman one of these days.
