SONY NW-ZX500

Output impedance should matter if you have low impedance IEMs like Shure SE846 (and others). Are you saying Sony hardware is somehow different?

Exactly, yes. Just rubbing it with the T-Shirt (the same i did, don't use an expensive one otherwise you'll have the jack coating on it :D) and that should do it.
Yeah! It worked! checked it 2 times in different days. was there just dust and debris? as I understand 4.4 jack is coated with some precious metal like gold alloys to reduce oxidating or whatever, right?

I doubt the North American and Japanese versions differ but I do have an Japanese import NW-ZX507.

Thank you. That explains a lot. Especially with my CFA Andromeda.
If you forgive my prying - are you experiencing poor performance with it? I ask as i have a European model (both ZX507 and WM1Am2) and use it quite happily with Andromeda Gold and 2019 Andromeda.

It sounds good. It just darkens the sound considerably.

I have the Cayin RU6 which is 1ohm and it sounds so much more balanced. Obviously it’s also the DAC playing into it.

This post from @Tchoupitoulas got me thinking…

“Source pairings are also important with the Andros, in particular, because the output impedance of your source can have a significant effect on the tuning: for the Andros, an output impedance below 1 ohm will make them bassier and warmer (too much so, for my taste, especially with the Andro 2020). Between 1 and 2 ohms is my sweet spot, which offers a more balanced sound that's closer to neutral. Above 2 and you get a touch too much brightness with the original Andromeda. For reference, I have the Sony ZX2 as my DAP because it's well known to synergize beautifully with the Andros and the Solarises (Solari?).”

I own both. Quick feedback after 10 hours of listening with the WM1ZM2 (TZ700 earphones and PW1960 4.4 cable) : it's far better in every way.
Even if they share the same SOC I find the WM1ZM2 under Android 11 more reactive than the ZX507.
Music streaming apps work well, overall everything looks very stable. Battery life looks good so far.
Bigger screen make it easier to do searches and to watch videos on YouTube Music.
Sound Quality : darker background, bigger soundstage, more refined, more air, better separation and imaging.
I expect the difference to be even bigger with better IEMs.
I wonder if the ZX507 will receive an update to Android 11, since the NW-WM1ZM2 & WM1AM2 utilise the same SOC and run Android 11.... Probably not I fear, but has Sony hinted anything?

No hint if this but I agree it would be nice.

I agree, probably not. Too bad though since I love the size and form factor of the zx507 and it would likely benefit from Android 11 just in optimization of the code alone. I have no intent of buying the WM1AM2 since it is just too huge for my needs (I have a FiiO M11+LTD that fits that bill nicely). (edited: I own the WM1AM2; goes to show how one changes their mind in this hobby all the time, lol)
