SONY NW-ZX500

Hi guys!

I'm currently looking for a stable DAP below $1000. I mostly use Amazon Music HD, and some offline FLACs.
I am leaning towards ZX507, but wondering if the battery life is good or subpar especially while streaming.
I will greatly appreciate if you could share experiences regarding this.
(I currently have multi-BA iems which are relatively sensitive.)

I am also considering the following. Will try to audition them:
Ibasso DX160 - I read a lot of noise and connectivity(BT) issues in the discussion forum
Hiby R5 - feels good in the hand, usability seems okayish than DX160? since I haven't read issues regarding wireless connection
R6 Pro - recommended by many reviewers, but I've seen reports of EMI issues when near phones or routers
Shanling M6 - still waiting for release

Thank you!
If you mostly use sensitive IEMs the ZX507 may suit you well, as Sony DAPs have relatively low output power thus making them ideal

ZX507 (and A105) will only do streaming music at the Android max sample of 24/48. UAPP also only works at 24/48 currently. Active streaming music is a battery killer on most Android DAP's

With offline Spotify on the A105 your getting just over 10hrs and its meant to have longer play time than ZX507. Playing your own 320kbps mp3's in the Walkman App will get the 25 hours with a A105 so around 22 with the ZX507 SE.

If you want bit-perfect Amazon HD then seriously consider the Hiby R5. It also has the output power to drive just about any headphone too.

I returned my R5 and have a Japanese import A105 as I wanted smallest/lightest Android player and only use SE846's via phono out. The synergy between my SE846/A105 is also much sweeter/musical than out of the R5 for my ears.

Thank you for your insights! Yeah, there's something magical with Sony DAPs sonically.
I will try to auditionHiby R5 and A105s as well.
Do you find your A105 kinda hard to use when typing? (Due to screen size)
Also, I've watched a video of a japanese reviewer where he says that his A105's battery drops by 50% daily without doing anything.

I have fairly fat fingers and have little problem.

I had a ZX300 and the A105 sounds as good over SE as that did over balanced.

The A105 is not going to be any good if you have headphones that need a decent bit of power. A105 really for use with efficient IEM's

Can someone confirm if everything streamed gets converted to 48kHz or does it do 44.1kHz correctly from Spotify/Tidal etc... (I don't care about hires, but 44.1 should be 44.1)

In Amazon HD for a 24/44.1 track it says DAC 24/48 capable Playing 24/44.1.

No idea on Tidal as just shows HiFi or Master.

* Does on A105 anyway and I'd assume ZX507 same.

Please can I thank all of you who have posted in this thread. Thanks to posts here my ZX507 arrived today and so far has exceeded my expectations. I already have Sony WH-1000XM2 headphones to use with it, but for some reason they sound better using LDAC than wired. I am wondering if I have the wrong cable (it was middle of the road price wise). However I am looking for some good balanced heaphones to pair with the ZX507 and I wondered what others here were pairing it with? Thanks for any guidance.

I have used the Neutron Music Play for some years now but the Sony player sounds excellent and I am not sure if it is worth installing the NMP.

I'm using the MDR-Z7M2 with the ZX507 at the moment. It sounds amazing. Although I wish I have something that's smaller so it won't such a hassle when I'm on the go.
