Yep great case. looks like you went for total clear version. I went smoke/clear version as this material in pure clear version tends to age yellow.

I gave up a1ZM2 as preferred 1AM2, and not just for the £2K+ saving.

Main thing that jumps out for me is A1M2 sounds warmer, cosier with greater sound stage and super silent background, while the A307 has more bass kick. I'm 56 soon so don't have the high end resolving ability of those with younger ears.

I've not done a lot of A-B listening yet. I can say if I didn't have a 1AM2 I'd be perfectly happy with what the A307 puts out with my IEM's except maybe not my Shure SE846 as I do like a black, silent background and slight amp hiss with the sensitive Shure's.

When I had an A105 & ZX507 I preferred the 3.5mm output of that over the 3.5mm output of the ZX507. I suppose with a DAP that only has a 3.5mm port they can focus 100% to optimise its single output to get perfect with the component choice.

I am actually considering sticking with just the A307 as so portable and OS/SOC is snappier and I can live without balanced.

I was after an AM2 but I'm thinking about the ZX707 now. It's a bit cheaper and seems more portable than the AM2. I don't really like the design though, don't really like the gold bits on the output and the battery life doesn't seem great.

But then I think maybe I should get an AM2 and literally never upgrade ever again. And since it's my "last portable audio" purchase I should just go all out.

Probably going to wait for some reviews to come out and make a decision in a few months...
