I just recently obtained this brand new Sony MZ-EH1 minidisc player from our fellow Head-Fi'er 'The Wizard Of Oz' and thought I'd upload a few photos of this rare and beautiful minidisc player.

I'm sure I'm not the only person out there that has a love for the EH1 or minidiscs in general. Anybody else wanna share any minidisc-related photos?

Great pictorial, Mr MD! Good to see you're delighted with the gem that is the EH1!

It might be bringing you back memories of SP legacy MiniDisc, but this is from the highlights of Hi-MD era, starting 2004. Different machines, different sound, different capabilities.

Used to be a fantastic gallery of MD/HIMD on the old Mini Disc forum. Lovely players. I think I deleted all the photos I had of mine.

Sparky! Ah, I so miss the MiniDisc Community Forums! When you say deleted, you mean from SI? Or from your own archive?

Can you still get blanks? I dug out my box of MDs the other day but the only player i could find was my old Sony 505 with a cracked display. The sound was much thicker than I recalled, but i had no way to access the menu to see what bass boost or eq setting it was on.

Minidisc do sound lovely, don't they? It was not really a part of my music listening: when I wanted to carry a few disc, I carried a bag - may as well took a CD player with me; when I needed portability, mp3 player was convenient. Where did I bury my MD players...? It's time to dig them out.

Unfortunately Sony decided to cease minidisc production November last year.

I went down to my local Sony dealer but they didn't even have Hi-Md blanks left. Such a shame.

That Sony 505 photo you have there is fantastic. Such a ghetto unit! Good to see you can still get a sound from it!

Not surprising, been a long time since I noticed any in the stores here. I made the mistake of letting my kid use the 505 after i got a newer MD. Now I can't find the newer one.

The N505 was my very first MD unit! I had it in blue; got stolen in a youth hostel in Barcelona at the time. I came back to MD a couple of years later in full force with Hi-MD gear, after some intermediary and disappointing period with a lousy MP3 player, that even with .wav sounded horrid. Ah, all the exitement of the release of the RH1 back in 2006 on MiniDisc.org... fond memories.

Gee, I even had three RH1's at one stage...
