Yea beats are crap and over priced never buy those your friends got screwed but i would actually go with the ATH-Pro700 MKII they have alot of bass and good highs and mids and are great for isolation you can get them for around 140-200$ depending on where you get them I likew them alot better than the XB-700

Beats pro sound great depending on price you pay. Dont let people recommend Xb700 if they havent personally tried the pros. Even critics admit the Pros sound good, with a bass emphasis. If you can get them for $300 or a little less its a no brainer. The sony's cannot compare.

xb700 MSRP = 129.99 USD

beats pro MSRP = 399.99 USD

With the xb's you get clear, tight bass, more or less equal to the pro's, if not better, for a third of the price. I think the no brainer here is to get the xb700s.

The pros aren't even worth ~300 USD. More like 100-150 USD.

The Sony XB500 has more bass but less mids and highs. But its only $50

I believe the XB700 has much deeper bass with less quantity and impact but more clarity with more comfort.

someone correct me if I'm wrong.

P.S. the sonys are massive headphones but super comfy and a short cord

The Beats Pro are in no way worth $300. They're at best on the same level with the HD25-1-II, which goes for about $180.

@OP, if you're thinking about buying the Pro, and have the money to do so, why consider the XB-700? You can get a PRO900, or a D2000, or a custom M80  + amp at that price easily.

I actually was somewhat impressed by the pro's when I listened to them... until I realized they are possibly the most uncomfortable cans I have ever worn- after 30 minutes it started to hurt, and after an hour the pain was unbearable.

Don't get the pros. If you have the money get the Denon's as people have suggested.
