Sony MDR-R10 with CD-3000 drivers - is this copesetic?

Yes, a very old thread but I know a manufacture that has the R10 and CD3000 and many, many others. He did dissection and said the drivers are the same but the sound from the DC3000 housing is inferior and to him, unlistenable.
I think the R10 driver has a stronger magnet compared to that of the CD3000.

The drivers were definitely different to begin with, slightly different process, though in the last runs of the R10 I believe SONY did end up using CD3000 drivers as no more drivers were being produced by Ajinomoto. But yes, housing is probably more important for the sound. I have a MDR F1 with CD1000 drivers (same as CD3000), it sounds very bright lol

The CD1000 housing and CD3000 housing differ, and obviously the R10 housing was further designed for that natural "concert hall" sense of space.
