dear forum
sony currently sells two good phones --- the mdr ma900 and the mdr 1r . i have not listened to either phone but this forum has favorably reviewed both cans .
sony mdr ma900 :
sony mdr 1r :
i listen almost exclusively to solo classical piano . bach , mozart , beethoven , chopin , debussy , rachmaninoff , scarlatti , and all the great composers . i also enjoy the great composers' concertos and orchestral works . i am not a rock pop folk or beats snob . i just can't stand listening to what most people inexplicably seem to love .
my question is : which of the two sony phones ( mdr ma900 or mdr 1r ) is the best for classical piano . the ma900 is open back and by all accounts very comfortable . the 1r is closed back and more appropriate for outside the home . i rarely ever listen to music outside my home so i am thinking that the ma900s would be a better choice for me but i would like to get some feedback from classical piano lovers who have tried either or both of these sonys . even if you do not listen to classical piano and have experience with the mdr ma900 or the mdr 1r please offer your opinion about each model . they cost about the same money -- the mdr 1r is around fifty bucks more . the mdr 1r has the distinct advantage of not bugging anyone else in the room but there is never anybody else in my room anyway .
i wish i could buy them both . and perhaps one day i will . which phones should i get first ?
thanks for your valuable input .
