Sony MDR MA900 Impressions Thread

My MA900s just came, and while I need to spend some time with them to give a verdict on the sound, I didn't need a minute to decide these are the most comfortable headphones I have ever tried. They simply vanish immediately with almost no clamping force. The bass seems to be pretty good, even for EDM, with my E10, so my main concern was alleviated right away.

I am moving from DT770s which never sounded quite right to me and the clamping could get to me at times. I was going to go with the X1, but reading a ton of MLE's posts across 3 threads made me take the plunge.

I really hope they release an MA1000. I love how the sound is not harsh to the ears and the comfort is amazing so if they could make one with a little better build and more detailed sound that would be perfect.

you guys better buy some before they are sold out and price goes up...im pretty sure if sony doesnt release something similar to the ma900, their price will go up for a while.

But i do hope they release a new headphone with slightly better build and a detachable cable like the X1 for the same price or maybe for 250...

would buy them right away

I still can't believe the MA900's discontinued already. Thought it was more of a $150 headphone, which was what I paid, and then another one sold for $110 right after. I was kicking myself...only now, good luck finding one for under $200!

If Sony plans on a succeeding model, though, they'd better do something about that diluted treble and bring it back in line with the rest of the spectrum. EQ might be able to fix it, but I'd prefer not having to EQ to begin with.

Also, if they were smart, they'd make a gaming headset out of the design.

Yeah, i got it for 215 2 days ago...saw them for 190 like 2 months ago...after that, never saw them below 200 but 215 is still a good price.

But im sure im going to make a buck out of these down the road lol

Im pretty sure Sony will bring out a replacement...I mean, they got great feedback from the MA900. The question is, when will they release "this" replacement?

From what I have heard and read, after the F1 got discontinued, it took a while before the MA900 got release. Not sure about the time but I think MLE has an idea or knows more about this.

But Im sure we will see a replacement within less than 2 years or maybe later this year right before christmas. It tends to happen during christmas time when new tech gets released just lile the PS4 during Nov. of last year
