How is one able to remove the original chip?

You can use a soder-wick to remove the soder. I think you can buy it at radio shack.

I've opened my D-25s up to take a look see to be familiar with it when i mod it. Is the chip on the bottom circuit board?

Yes, it is on the bottom circuit board.

So how exactly do i take off the top circuit board. I unscrewed the screws, but didn't want to force it open. Could you perhaps show some pics on how to remove it?

It's tricky. Take the screw out first. Undo the tapes holding the wires down nexts. Once you do that, wiggle the circuit board a little bit. The top circuit board should then come loose. Be very careful not to nudge too hard.

So after using the desoldering braid the chip should still be on the board, and I'll have to use pliers to pull it out right?

Once all the soder is gone, use an xacto knife to wiggle the legs loose.

Well i finally got around to doing the chip mod. I must say it was worth it. Bass is more present. The total time including screwing and unscrewing was about 45min.

With my success, I now want to mod the ps. How many would i need?

Two caps. One cap, the value is 220uF and the othe one is 150uF. The caps I used were tantulum. The have low profile and ESR.

So what would be the benefits of new caps?
