Sonnet Digital Audio: New kid on the block, well.. not really!

There is limited availability subject to order chains/sell outs etc. More should be available in the US/elsewhere – all being well April’ish. After that looks like 2nd half of the year (unknown when) and depends on the usual parts supply. That is being worked on (DIY of course) which might speed things up.

For what it’s worth some MOT’ly impressions. As expected due to lower noise floor and double processing power (resolution) etc., everything is better all round. The Alpha Review commented Pasith was tighter. Often this refers to Bass - better definition.

My end (main Speakers), the total spectrum of sound presentation is tighter with greater spaciousness - details better locked into place. I was not expecting this aspect - tighter but more spacious. Tight might imply smaller but the opposite in fact happened.

Secondly, said I’d decrypt 6 Moons. Well he added to the Review later and bought it as his new Ref … so that sums it I think. For him resolution is King and provides everything else. At the risk of annoying everyone he’s blogged further, re 3 alternative Dacs (same Mnfr) - climbing the Dac ladder at higher price points. I get the gist and think the same applies to Morph v Pasith.

Which DDC or streamer are you guys using with Morpheus? I am using Pi2AES I2S out but looking to upgrade to Gustard U18 with AES out as it has fantastic hardware.
Any idea which precision clock is used by sonnet Hermes? However I may not be able to upgrade to Sonnet Hermes as it is quite expensive in India and hence inclined towards Gustard U18

I am using a Sonnet Hermes with I2S and have been extremely happy with it.

Do you find a difference between AES and I2S out of Hermes with Morpheus?

The I2S sounds a bit more refined/better to my ears, with a bit more separation and space and a blacker background.

Nice, but could you elaborate a little more? In what respects does the Pasithea best the Morpheus, and the Holo May, which you have also heard, if I remember correctly? Btw the Pasithea is high on my wishlist, so I'm not taking this lightly at all, so kindly elaborate.

The listening sessions were made by the Metrum Ambre streamer and I2S connection. At the beginning I connected Cleary Mg and honestly, Pasithea did not sound much better than Morpheus. Everything changed after connecting the Abyss 1266 and I immediately rolled off the seat. I was attacked with a lot of details, but presented in a very polite way, so far I did not think that the R2R DAC could provide so much detail, it heard more than on the Morpheus. Pasithea sounds with great resolution, at the beginning I had to get used to such a wide range of frequency. The treble is more distinct, detailed, higher, juicy, at first I thought there were too many of them, but quite quickly I got used to it and I started to like the sporany a lot. The midrange is poetry, melodic, organic, that's just great. The bass also got a kick, in my opinion it is a bit stronger and has more dynamics, this is perfectly audible on the Abysses. The soundstage has been slightly widened as well as the holography has been improved. Unfortunately, in order for Patishea to shine as much as possible, you need to buy a very good headphone amplifier, headphones and also have good quality music. As for the disadvantages, I can only mention the same appearance as Morpheus and that it is noticeably hotter. For the last year I listened to such DACs as Holo May KTE or Chord Dave but for myself I would take the Sonnet product, sonically I think that it is equal to Dave and the price / quality ratio of Pasithea is just great, it is an audible improvement in relation to Morpheus.

Forgive me if you mentioned this already but are you using the volume control on the Pasithea?
Or do you have an integrated/headphone amp with volume control?
