WOW, that was a LOT of reading. I just read the whole thread from page 1 (about 3.5 hours worth), and am ordering a uS. My primary plan will be pairing it to my Verizon Note 3 phone (SM-N900V). I will also probably end up using it on Windows PCs at times.
 
Further, if this sounds as great as others feel it does, I may be grabbing a quality 3.5mm->2xRCA cable and plugging this into my JBL MS-8 that I've got in my e91 wagon, and just "muting" my music playback from my car's headunit, so that I only have the bluetooth audio and satnav instructions coming from my headunit, and then the audio playback from my phone running through the uS.

Background: I own Sennheiser HD428, Logitech UE700 (a seemingly uncommon and discontinued IEM with 2 BA drivers per earphone), and recently purchased some Beyer DT770 Pro 250ohm headphones. These Beyers, purchased in August, required more oomph than any of my devices (phone, tablet, PC) could put out. So I picked up a FiiO E10 a few days ago, and WOW what a difference. I now sometimes look around when listening to music because I will hear something in the song that I've never heard before, or something I have, and it sounds as if the noise came from beyond the speakers. With the comparison I've read on here to the E10, I hope this impresses me as well.
 
I am also considering the FiiO E18, but as it is not releasing in the US until December, and at a similar price, I am choosing the HRT uS.
 
If I feel capable of describing the uS when I get it, I will post back with my feelings.

The Griffin and StarTech cables don't mention OTG (on-the-go) so they might not work.  The Micro end must be wired such to give the phone/tablet an USB A connection, with the Mini end playing the B role.

EDIT: The cable in the link below arrived and the connector on the micro end won't fit for most phones, tablets, etc. More details including the correct part number are in my follow-up post of 29-Oct-2013.

I've just ordered this Micro A to Mini B OTG cable made by Lindy which should (hopefully) work, though it is .5 Meters and I'll have to shorten it.

[Look at the other Amazon sellers for this cable as one is the manufacturer (Lindy) who sells it for $6 + $4 shipping. I couldn't figure out how to get a url directly to the cheaper Lundy listing.

I have not found another location to buy this FiiO cable, which is odd since it has its own product model number. You would think that would simplify searching for it.

Yeah I spent quite a while looking and the closest I found was that half a metre Lindy cable. Actually ordered it until I realised it was half a metre and cancelled the order.
 
That Fiio cable actually doesn't look too bad.

From the couple hours I've spent searching, the Fiio cable is the best option available right now (from a portable convenience standpoint). There is a right or left angle micro to mini otg cable (like the FiiO but right angled as well) made by iBasso I think, but I think it only comes with a Dzero or something. I haven't found it separately yet. That would be my preference, but I guess I will get by until that comes out.

just purchased the hrt microstreamer, i find it good sounding, but i'm having a little bit of problem regarding sound drop/clicking when playing 24/96 flac files, anyone with the same problem?

my current setup:
s4(i9505) -> usb audio recorder pro version 1.2.8 -> otg cables -> microstreamer -> earphone

still clicking/dropping sound occurs after setting buffer size to 50ms in foobar(wasapi)

uninstalled foobar and components, then reinstalled again by downloading the latest version.

finally, it's working normally without pops and drop-out in sound, hope the problem before disappear forever

the only remaing problem is my portable setup, my i9505 (s4) still have pops/drop sound in usbaudio recorder app

Thanks for this as it points to a buffer issue that is fixable by software on the player side.  
 
I've tried to play 24b/96k files from an iPhone 5c and hear skipping/gaps, whereas 44.1k and 48k files are fine.  I hope Apple does some work to fix this, perhaps by supporting hi-rez natively...
