I get a subtle but extremely high pitched ringing in the right channel... It usually settles down when I tap my fingers on the top of the amp, but this is unacceptable. What may be the cause of this? I'm guessing it has something to do with the tubes.

It think it uses ECC88 tubes. To open it "You unscrew the 4 screws in the front, and the one screw in the back in the middle of the RCA inputs/outputs. Then you can pull the front and the board out." quoted from another post found here. http://www.head-fi.org/t/431083/please-give-me-instructions-on-how-to-open-my-x-can-v8-and-change-tubes

Pictures of the inside can be found here http://rockgrotto.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=q&action=display&thread=4262

if you want to be sure that its the tubes just swap the left and right tubes and if the sound is now on the opposite side then its the tube. Also in case your wondering the tubes just come out by pulling out don't try unscrewing them like a light bulb haha.
