This dac is a very very weak headphone amp for my Arya.....where is the "extreme" RME writes all in there manual and website?

Can somebody please help me with this DAC. Why does it suck that much?

Is there a setting I am missing???

It sound crap on speakers and not powerful enough to be decent on my Arya!!!
How on earth is it not enough for the Arya? I never needed to go into Hi-Power mode before it would become painful to my ears. Same with my DCA Stealth or any other headphone. It's producing exactly what the headphones sound like at stock settings, total transparency. Are you sure you got a legit product? :) What exactly sucks about it?

You may need to reset all settings back to factory if De-Emphasus was already on. That is not the default setting. Its defaulted to Auto.

It is pretty powerful but not extreme as they say. iFi Diablo is extreme imo. But the volume meter is almost af 80% on the RME, that should be blown out ears for extremw

You have it using 80% of the power for the Arya? Just want to clarify. What DBR / Auto Ref on ? etc ? Cause I am running DCA Stealth WITH a bass shelf and it doesn't even need to get to hi-power to become uncomfortably loud.

My listening level at high is -15 dBr right around where HiPower starts to kick in.

But ok I can not stand HiPower mode all the way up ofcourse. But I thought it had som more headroom.

Edit:
Line out settings: Optical out from PC to RME DAC:
USB or OPT

Holy cow.. I don't know if you got something wrong with your unit, your headphones, or what... -15dbr in high mode on my stealth measures 90-100db average on modern music (janky measuring but it will likely be louder if sealed better). Some Daft punk as an example.

Maybe I am just too sensitive, but I gotta imagine at -15dbr your Arya's are a little louder. There's ways to calculate that out that i'm too lazy to figure out.

With all of that said, at -15dbr there appears to be plenty of headroom still. I'm getting pakes at -10, -11. about 60% and I feel this a louder than average album.
I did listen to it for just a moment and it sounded great but ouch :( too loud for me. Maybe that's a me problem. I've never been a concert person so listening to loud music isn't a reference point to me.

Its high volume. I can not enjoy music for long period on this. Thoug I game on pc at this level also.

Buuuut. I did notice a big volume drop when switching from usb to opt.

Are you listening in USB as input?

I am not…OPT

I'm USB from my IPad Pro.
I can confirm that usb is a little higher output than opt. But I can still listen at -15dBu but it is too much for a long period of time.

Yeah and now I had to Like both these posts :D
😂

To be fair I shouldnt complain at 500$ bucks. I would admit that it can drive the Arya fine(around -15dBr/HiPower/ARL).

I am a overkill person. My ears should bleed around 50% power output, like normal mode on the Diablo 😂

My expectation of the extreme output was comparing it to the iFI Diablo. I shouldnt have😊

Would I give 1000$ now that I know what it can do. I think it is still worth it with the tweak possibilities…and remote
