The wire method is good and what I generally do after wiring the buffer up is to dip the entire thing in resin (the same way I do with my 15m resistor modules) it ensures good integrity and effectively seals the entire thing.

Hmm - my office's network was having problems today, because I thought I had already posted this -

Jameco has the TLE2426 - about 200 of them if their "in stock" update works properly. This is the TO-92 version, but they have the others, too. We're not really close to the BUF634-shortage mode with the TLE ... yet.
