This is not a myers briggs test but a socionics test. Hence the results can not be directly compared.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socionics
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myers-B...Type_Indicator

Often though, the J/P scale is switched for introverts, but NOT necessarily so. This is because while in Myers system, this letter designates the character of the first extroverted function, in socionics this letter designates the character of the first function irrespective of wheter it is extroverted or not. Hence an introverted "P" in Myers system, which has a judging dominant (introverted) function, becomes a "j" in this system. This does not have to be true for the individual. Hence a person can be be an INTj in both the systems, which might not make sense in theory, as the two systems are not equal. Wheter the final letter is capitalised or not actually matters, as it makes a distinction between the two systems. An ISFj is hence not the same as an ISFJ. If the designation is in all capital letters, you are talking MBTI.

I hope this is somewhat understandable without diving into the theory, which might be better done by doing some reading on already existing material.

--------------------------------

Hmm, personally I am an INTP in myers system and an INTj in the russian system. As we are on a geek forum on the internet, there will be a huge overrepresentation of "us" here. If someone is interested in some other descriptions:

Of course this should not be taken as being absolute truths, but there is at least some truth in it. If you read through the above, you would have a better general idea of how I think and live than most people I encounter in real life, including some friends and people in my family.

ISTJ "The Pragmatist"

My combined scoring factor was .79 so I could also be so self conscious of what I perceive myself to be that my score could possibly not be entirely authentic according to the site.

I am a bit sceptical - far too culturally bound and based on self assessment which is just about the worst line of psychometric approach you can do - better to ask someone how they would behave in a scenario , also full of answers that would depend on social acceptability.

How many people for instance did not answer yes to humantarian or merciful

Also no sometimes option - for instance some times I am principled and some times I am not but there is no sometimes principled

IMO, these "scientific" personality tests are no more meaningful than a Cosmo love survey or a horoscope.

Oh, look I'm a "Gemini", lets see what what kind of person I am.

You won't trust MBTI anymore if you know how this test was originally conceived -- it was the "baby" of a literature-savvy, ambitious housewife who was so defensive with her brainchild that she could not tolerate any attempt at revising or altering it, much less putting it under the glaring light of scientific verification. Indeed when the MBTI was later assessed by the scientific community, the test-retest reliability turned out to be unacceptably low.

I recommend the book The Cult of Personality by Annie Murphy Paul. This book also debunks such "psychological tests" as Thematic Apperception Test and the Rorschach.

INTP, and when I read about that type in my friend's book - he had urged me to take the test - it was as if I were doing a life-review.

No, but I'm sure my ex could tell you. MSW, met her in the courtroom over some child placement or other. She's rather fond of the DSM IV.

Oh, INTJ here. I've taken the test in a number of forms over the years and always get the same result.
