Best tip combo so far is comply 500's with the silicone "bore" shoved inside the bore of the comply 500.  The silicone bore is from the included tips with the 64.  I feel as if the length of the comply p series tips is too long and you lose more of the clarity because of that.  The shorter length of the 500's is perfect and the silicone protects against the foam eating up any frequencies.
 
This is for the SM64 btw.

Sorry if it sounds gross but a thing i LIKE about the gray tips that come with the sm64 is that they don't seem to get oily after use. A different material than the sm3 tips perhaps?
When i use my sm3 tips after a 30min bus ride, they are usually coated with oils from my ears.

AFAIK the grey tips are Comply tips, which can pull a little wax every once in a while.  Which is the same material as the comply 500...I just prefer the 500's because of a more shallow insertion...I reckon the 100's may work too?  I haven't got any on me though.

I find the new grey tips to have a larger bore than the ones that came with sm3.
Makes cleaning out earwax MUCH easier.

Okay quick update. I received the free GoVibe Martini amp in the mail yesterday and my friend and I have been trying the 64's with them. My source is a 6th gen iPod Classic. The SM64's sound very muted when it's unamped compared to when it's amped. Everything comes alive all of a sudden. The bass has more depth, and everything is richer and more refined.

Conclusion for us? An amp is a must-have for the SM64's, and you will be disappointed without one.

Hmm maybe I just had the "wrong" amp when I powered the SM64 with an iBasso D-Zero...that thing did nothing to the sound.

cool im thinking of sm64 or cosmic ears 6ba but the warranty is only one year in cosmic ears which is in europe too so im not sure if es will give 2 years i searched the site but didn't find anything about it ill contact them

For me, it depended on how I fit the amp into the setup. When the iPod was attached to the amp via the iPod's top circular outlet, there was no noticeable change in sound for me. Only when I used the cable that attaches the iPod to the amp at the bottom rectangular outlet of the iPod did the sound suddenly become fuller and more alive.

The statutory warranty in Spain is 2 years, right? So is it in every other EU-country

I guess I'll just wait for the Fiio X3 with its on-board amp...I really don't feel like buying a new expensive amp right now :/ Not to mention that I hate carrying around amps.

You must be talking about the lineout the audio straight from the dock. Sure it gives a much better sound as the signal is fed straight from the iPod to the amp and to the earphone with being amped by ipod's internal amp (lousy sound quality in comparison). which means noise signal are kept to minimum for the set up. If you are feeding the dock to an usb outlet (Amp with DAC, e.g. sony-PHA-1) the signal will be processed by the Amp (better DAC), meaning an even better sound.
