Hi SU-6 owners, I'm new to the club and really do love it between my Mac Mini M2 and Yggy, via AES. It made a pretty clear difference. But I've run into an issue trying to use the SU-6 with HQ Player into the Holo May. I can play HQP via direct USB connection from the Mac Mini to the May but I cannot get any sound to come through the SU-6. I've setup the SU-6 as the proper Output device in HQP and the Yggy makes the click sound when I play to it, but no audio comes out to any device connected to the SU-6. I've done my research and read of some people who have issues with HQP and SU-6 but I wanted to see if anyone here's managed to successfully output audio from HQP to the SU-6?

No issues here, HPQ>SU6>Spring 3 (I2S). I'd double check all hqplayer settings (including the obvious stuff like volume). Also, if you're using AES, make sure you're not trying to upsample above the supported output rates (384k pcm, dsd128 dop)
Dumb question --> can AES (out) and I2S (out) be plugged into DAC (and SU-6) at same time ?
I only ask because I recently was testing a new streamer - and the manufacturer said the AES and I2S were not isolated from each other and he advised not plugging both cables in at same time from device to DAC
I'm currently using both the SPDIF and I2S (RJ45) outputs of the SU6 to the same DAC (Aqua La Voce) with no problems so far. I'm using a raspberry pi streamer and I can easily switch between the two formats. Not exactly what you were asking about but I guess a similar situation?
Have done switching between three (SPDIF, AES, I2S) to my DAC. Was testing which connections I like most. To my ears its (SPDIF = AES) > I2S.
After a year having my Streamer/Upsampler/Format Coverter, my connection now is:
For videos: PC -> SU-6 (SPDIF/AES) -> Streamer (I2S) -> DAC
For music: LAN (Roon+HQP) -> Streamer (I2S) -> DAC
In my case I preferred I2S via RJ45 over SPDIF (BNC), both very good and both superior to USB direct to my DAC. This is why I think the SU6 is just excellent for what it does - allow you to maximize the potential of your DAC and choose which connection you prefer, or not choose and use whichever you feel like listening to depending on music or personal mood. All this while being mostly plug and play and none of the bugs and issues other ancillary digital equipment seem to have.
Was trying an expensive AES cable (Transparent) that my friend let me borrow, I ended up preferring the BJC hdmi cable over it. What's an affordable AES cable you guys liked?
My favorite AES cable is from Acoustic Zen, though I’d also suggest Supra or Morrow cables for good value. Just be sure to get the Morrow during one of their sales, if you go that route.
For me one of the best - most musical AES cables is the Harmonix HS 102 (AES EBU).
Compared to I2S Pink Faun I prefer I2S. Greater clarity, depth of stage and blacker background.
The Singxer SU-6 is I2S connected to my WL, on I2S output 2 of the Singxer and I2S mode 2 of the Wavelight.
After the last software upgrade of Wavelight to 1.38 I noticed inversion of channels when playing PCM files.
I rolled back to 1.23 but the same thing happens. I hadn't noticed anything like that before.
After various tests I came up with the following Singxer setup: SW7 ON, SW9 ON, SW 10 ON and the rest switches OFF.
Does anyone have a similar problem?
The same question is also posted in Rokna's Wavelight thread.
Thank you
Hello are there other DDCs that have same/better sonic performances than SU6 but have more inputs? I love the improvement that SU6 makes but i wish it had more inputs
