Wish I had the budget you guys have.

Turntable - Marantz tt-6000 with a Grado prestige black cart.
~$110
Reciver - Marantz 2220B
$112.

So close its not really something I wish to separate. Though I'm looking for a CD player, likely will be worth more than the table and receiver combined.

I'm interested to see what the most expensive component averages out to be. I predict the headphones will be pretty high on that list.

My equipment is so old it would be hard to say which is the most expensive. I guess the Arcam Alpha 7 CD player actually COST the most because it's the newest: 21 years old. That was about NZ$1100 I think (full retail price at the time was closer to $1300). The Philips CD650 that it replaced cost m $800 and its full retail price at the time was NZ$1200. The laser assembly broke down after about 10 years and it now has a second-hand one in it sent to me free by Philips. For the rest:
I paid NZ$550 for the Luxman PD131 (price at the time was NZ$850) The SME Series III cost $300 (price at the time $330) and I can't remember what the Shure V15 Type III cost. These haven't been used for well over 20 years. The QUAD ESLs cost NZ$1300 (1976 price) and I think the 33-303 amp and pre-amp cost about NZ$850. I have been told by a friend who investigated what it would cost to replace his equipment with stuff that can stream, play downloads, etc., that I would need NZ$50,000 to replace mine. $19,000 just to replace my speakers! A quick look online told me he would be right. I've even seen full outfits at over $200,000. And here's me thinking all our wealthy people had fled the country long ago!

I have a Bryston 3B3 that I bought used, so it's the most expensive retail and actual paid item I own.

noble k10ua. How well do u think it stacks up to modern flagships
Who cares? Just enjoy it. I bought most of my hi fi in 1976 (original QUAD ESLs, 33-303 amp and pre-amp) and there isn't a day go by now that I tell myself how lucky I am to have it. Even my CD player is 21 years old, though I still have one that is another 10 years older.

HD 820 and Hugo 2, both under $1700, but the Hugo was used.
