Anyone have any thoughts on what IEMs would be a direct upgrade from the EA1000? I have the Monarch MKII and the Variations and while I think those are more detailed and very clean sounding, there's things about the EA1000 that make it more enjoyable than those for me. The way the EA1000 does bass in particular, with the passive radiator I find more enjoyable on the EA1000 than those. The Monarch MKII and the Variations feel laid back in comparison.

An upgrade would be the Final Audio A8000. Bigger soundstage, better resolution.

However, it is very expensive (diminishing returns are much worse) and it is harder to drive. Also a bit brighter in the treble to my ears, so maybe not the best synergy if you are treble sensitive.

Probably out of budget for me but I'll keep an eye on those haha. EA1000 feels quite unique with its passive radiator, as far as I know it is the only non-obscure IEM on the market with a passive radiator (maybe EA2000 too) that actually uses it well.

You can try the Oriveti OH700VB. The iems are quite good, esp the bass on it. You can check reviews about it.

SIMGOT EM6L review, an easy going earphone with great timbre.

My video about EA1000. In short, great DD IEMs

Nice review. Agreed with a lot of your observations. It is hard and probably unreliable to compare the various nozzles but I have been finding that the black nozzle, without any additional mods, is the most dynamic sounding. Red nozzle might just be missing that extra energy. I have been finding myself preferring bright or bright neutral type sound signatures, it sounds nice to me without being harsh, but maybe I have more resistance to treble compared to some.

So I'm on the fence with the ea1000. I'm just trying to find out bit more about male lead vocals in rock music... do they take a backseat due to the tuning of lower mids... and if so, how much? Anyone able to compare to fiio fd5?

Sounds like you may want to wait for the EA500LM.
According to TDM it is a "masterpiece of sound".
"Masterpiece" to me would mean it's a ten out of ten, perfection, and it will probably cost way less than the EA1000.

That Jays Audio guy who has heard them seems to suggest the ea1000 is still the more refined sounding of the two. I'm gonna guess from a value perspective the ea500lm will be very good (depending on price), but if the ea1000 still improves on it sound wise, I don't mind spending extra. I'm guessing there's no release date anyway and I'm looking for something now. Cheers for the heads up tho 👍

My review of the EA1000. Please go through it. I know everyone here shares the same love for these brilliant pairs.

Nice...I think I'd give them a 5 out of 5 also. I've only tried the red nozzle and stock cable.
It could be a contender for a backup pair...I have a problem where I buy 2 of something I really like, but only if they are on a really good sale, so maybe next year.
Will have to see what else Simgot comes up with first...the EA500LM is on it's way.

Pretty nice IEM for the price. It's got decent technical performance, and good low end rumble and texture. It can be a tad bright on some tracks.
