Hello guys, I've been wanted to sidegrade my fa-003. Im looking something more portable and fun sounding but doesn't sacrifice the mids.
My current choices are:
- Onkyo ES FC-300
- Audio Technica ATH IM50

My max budget will be around $100-150.
Any suggestions are welcomed.

Cheers!

you do know that the IM50s are IEM's, right? have a look at the Don Scorpio Dolphins, I was consedring buying them until I found I could get the Fischer (Brainwavz) for 30€ less

+1

I just got the Dolphins. Very good for $100.

They don't sell here in my country, though

I indeed know that IM50 are IEM's, im okay as long as they are portable. My fa-003 is too big and obnoxious for portable usage.
Sadly, I can't find any Don Scorpio around in my country. Any suggestions else?

Thanks though. Cheers!

more portable like the CAL! or CAL2 (the CAL! is better) or more portable like the AKG K450 or the Beyer DTX501p (better than the AKG)?

I'm a bit leaning towards neutral sound signature.... I heard CAL! is a colored sounding cans...
thanks alot for the suggestion though :D

Now, I'm contemplating with Yamaha EPH-100, Shure SE215/215SPE and Audio Technica IM50.
I guess I'll be leaning toward IEMs too now.

Any other suggestions that cost USD100-150?

Cheers!

I know that the Yamaha EPH-100 is not considered neutral. Rokit R-50 would be.

I'm sorry, I think I need fun sounding headphone but doesn't drown out the mids and highs.... correction :p
Shure SE215 and RE-400 wpuld be wonderful choices. if you can stand the Ety's maybe the HF5, if I'm not mistaken, can be a good choice for you too

I heard Ety's soundsig is very fatiguing... is it right? I'm considering Shure 215, Yamaha EPH-100.... and Audio Technica WS55x... my fa-003 sounds too cold to me

again mate, the dolphin's are a excellent option for you. dunno about build quality though

if you are leaning more towards IEMs, check this list: http://www.head-fi.org/t/541204/concise-multi-iem-comparison-final-update-march-1st-2013
