Cleaning MMCX connectors

The following cleaning tip is applicable to all MMCX connector in ear monitors (Shure, UE and Westone):

This tip is for those hearing an intermittent drop off of sound from one or both IEMs. Also, I have found it is a good idea every couple of months to clean the connectors to insure optimal performance. You will need DeoxIT D100L Red and DeoxIT Gold (both are available from Amazon) as well as some tissue paper and a couple of toothpicks. Put a small amount of DeoxIT Red on the tissue paper wrapped around a toothpick and gently insert it into the ends of the IEM and cable and twist to clean the connector. Then repeat this with the DeoxIT Gold. Let them dry for 30 minutes or so and reconnect the cable to the IEM and you are finished.

Add me to those who prefer the Shure to the IE800, which sounded very nice but I thought was overpriced in regards to SQ/$.
The Shure is also  expensive of course but is the best iem/ciem I heard to date.

I guess, you didn't hear Roxanne yet when. I agree 846 is the bestout of Iems, but not Ciems.

IE800 is the best iem I have ever heard.Shure is nice,but not best for me.

You are right but those won't be out for another six months at least

But I bought the 846 after comparing it directly to the Noble K10 and other CIEM demos, and I didn't hesitate for one second.

Are you guys forgetting that Roxanne can be purchased as a universal IEM version? I wonder how that would stack up against the 846

I wouldnt even think about getting the Roxanne for the next 6 months or longer. Every time JH Audio comes out with something there's always too many orders and some kind of delays. Also I would almost consider them in different price ranges as I can get the SE846 around $500 cheaper,

Anybody have tried the JH13 pro frequency phase ciem?  Joker gave it a 10 on sound, the best score he gave ever.  Would you guys agree?

Do you find that there are drop off of sound if it is not cleaned regularly? I've never had an iem with connectors that could get sub optimal performance if the cable connectors were not cleaned.

That's just one person's opinion. You will definitely get opinions all across the board regardless of what iem or headphone it is. At the level of the JH13 it is about preference.

Yes, if I do not clean my connections about every two months I notice an intermittent failure in all MMCX connector IEMs. Hence, the cleaning tips.

Spook, I use to do that too. I'd add that it's good to use high pressure air (you know, the little canisters with the straw used to blow dust off motherboards and whatnot). The air helps get the debris left behind that restarts the dirtying process. I use to clean mine every few months also, but after cleaning it and blowing it, I haven't cleaned my 535 in a year. I haven't started with the 846. It took two years before my first problem with the 535 so I suspect it will be a while before I need to clean the 846 (cable/earpiece connections).
