They are a quite different sound. The Shure is quite mid-forward - vocals quite forward. Bass is good on the SE535 - flat and extended. The ES3 has a nice sub-bass lift. The ES3 has much better treble extension. I would consider the 535 as a side-step. It depends on what you are looking for, and if you want something quite different. What do you look for in an IEM. What would you like to change from the ES3? What is the budget range?
