SE535 would be better for you cyber, it is slightly warmer and lusher, with wider soundstage.

Where are you cyberalpha11? If you can get them - the SE535 Ltd Ed are even better. They have more sparkle / extension up top, which make them fantastic for both blues and jazz (nice mid-range + a bit of bite on guitars etc).

Miss my 425's though - they were very good while I had them.

Yeah I agree with randomkid, if you have the budget then SE535 is nice.
 
Me, I never go all out, not yet. Top of the line models are always a lot more expensive with incremental improvements.

Yes it's a pity they didn't bring out a limited edition of the SE425, with similar adjustments they made to the 535 LE. For me the only major thing the 425 was missing was mostly the extension in the treble.

I think a special edition 425 like you suggested would be excellent, better than normal 535, I think I preferred 425 over 535 in general, until I got a cable upgrade for the 535, highs came through.

Now sold my 535 and am getting some alclair reference monitors, should have the sound I'm looking for, I may miss the shure mids though, but I wanted to go full out custom.

Where did you get the alternate cable? Will it bring out highs in the 425?
I have spare cables for the Westone UM2 would they fit the SE425?

Westone cable will not fit

It brang out the highs on the 535, should do the same on 425

Look for 6N OFHC silver plated copper shure.cable on eBay, or just shure upgrade cable, get the 6N silver plated copper one

I am using a cheap-ish ex-Hong Kong SPC cable with my SE425s, on the end of an iBasso p4. I am now getting more or less exactly what I am looking for (but I eagerly await my silver LOD from Toxic Cables - review to follow on receipt.....). Compared to the stock cable, the treble opens out just that bit more.... Also, the "memory wire" sections are more comfortable, as they are slimmer and lighter.

I'm just about to board my flight back from Beijing to Shanghai, and am looking forward to another rewarding listening session!

So how is replaceing a cable to get slightly different sound signiture different from a few boots and attenuations on an equalizer?

well a cable will deliver the signal differently, silver is a better conductor than copper, and is know to have a brighter sound than copper. I am a believer in cables, some people dont believe in the difference. I trust my ears, and heard a difference, also using a Silver LOD over a Copper one made a slight difference.

I heard SE535LTD is only available in Asia.
Is there any significant different in term of sound stage and instrument/vocal separation between SE535 and SE535LTD?
And which one has a deeper extension bass?
