Shure KSE1500 Review - Shure KSE1500 Sound Isolating Electrostatic Earphones

Has anyone been able to try both the Hugo 2 and SP1000 with the KSE1500? I'm sure they both sound great -- though I'm wondering if one of the two is more synergistic with the KSE than the other.

Very good synergy between SP1000 & KSE1500. I don't know about Hugo2.

I'm listening for the first time the KSE1500 with the Hugo2 (MacBook Pro - Audirvana - Hugo2 - KSE1500) great experience, I prefer this combo compared to the Lotoo Paw Gold and also the WM!Z. It just make me appreciate the KSE1500 even more.

But it's not a portable solution.

I had a chance to listen to the KSE plugged into a Dave, and that was one of my first thoughts, I was surprised at how good the bass sounded! (mind you, the bass was just one of many other improvements, of course)

I enjoy the sound I'm getting from my AK120II, though I can't help but thinking that the SP1000 or Hugo 2 would likely be a significant step up. So I'm trying to weigh portability vs. price vs. relative sound quality... Ideally I'd love to listen to both of them side by side, but for the time being I don't have an opportunity to do that.

There's also the Cowon Plenue 2 which has the same DAC chips as the SP1000, and I'm curious how close it gets to the SP1000 sound...

It is fortuitous for me you posted this as I am currently looking to upgrade from my Mojo/KSE combination and the two that interest me the most are the Sony WM1Z and the Hugo 2. On pure sonic performance how would you compare them and why do you prefer the Hugo 2. My thanks in advance.

Personally I use the KSE1500 at home or in the office, I'm not concern about portability, based on what I heard today with the Hugo2, I would say that I prefer this combination over the WM1Z.

But if I had to choose only one I would go with the WM1Z since it's performance are outstanding and long lasting battery.

From my own experience I know that the AK380 + KSE1500 are a great match, because the meaty and warm sound of the AK380 balances the more analytical sound signature of the KSE1500 very very nicely. So nice, that you end up having the best of both worlds, the power, analogue warmth and smoothness of the AK380 for enjoyment and non fatiguing long listening sessions, and the 3D, holographic, details without end digging sound signature of the KSE1500. There´s nothing beyond this combination at the moment in portable audio imo.

Has anyone tried the Cowon Plenue 1 or 2 with the KSE1500?
would love to hear opinions on it.

I have always loved cowon signature sound and BBE effects.

Hissing Noise!!
Anyone experienced any hissing noise when using the KSE1500 through USB?
Hissing about 1/2 sec to 1-2 sec in some songs, then returns normal.

My setup
OnePlus 5 > USB-C OTG Adapter > Cable (USB~MicroUSB) > DAC
Application: Spotify - Normalize Volume OFF, Gapless OFF, Offline Mode ON
DAC: USB Charging OFF, Equalizer FLAT, Audio Limiter OFF, Fireware 1.2.2

Does anyone if it is problem with my setup? wrong OTG adapter? faulty DAC?
Line-in have no problem. Any help is appreciated.
