it's about time that good audio gear as available at the large retail chains. now if we could somehow convince people that bose are not the best out there. i've also noticed that a lot of magazines such as wired and cargo having given mention to grados, shures, koss and other good cans rather than giving more lip service to bose.

LOL!
"As soon as he was by my side he was gone again, a memory in the sunset of my mind. His resonating words... "Head-fi". I'm not sure what it meant; a key to his identity, a way to reach him, a secret term in the audiophile world that I can not understand, I may never know."

Sounds like good marketing to me. No wonder they're successful.

The Apple store has been carrying the e2c/e3c line for a bit now. I always assumed most of these Shures I see in the streets were purchased there. Well, I'm basing my assumption on the fact that the Shures are always seen plugged into ipods

I agree with nikongods original post. If people did research like they should before they blindly bought products they would know there are better things around. When the consumers get educated things get interesting

shure has had a recent marketing blitz. i see them all the time now in magazines with full page ads for the E4Cs. they also run tons of banners online. of course, it helps that consumer IEMS (UE super.fi, shures, etys) have been getting lots of love from reviewers these days.

Yeah. The ER6i and Shure E3c started it, with the higher-end IEM being targeted for iPod users, but then when the Shure E4c, gaming versions, cell phone versions and UE with its super.fi series, man. Who said the iPod's the end of audio-philia? This is a great market and a great time for products.

If it weren't for the iPod and the Shure E5c and my home theater in a box and HD600, my wallet would be a much happier camper.

Best,

-Jason

Go go headphone heros of the past, present and future!

We should have a "Tell your friends/family/children/coworkers/neighbors about headphones" Day.

This can be nothing but good. Shure actually cares about sound quality and about their customers... It's about time the better sales through marketing boys got a run for their money.

if they do get very popular, they're going to stop giving a **** and turn into bose.

In Hong Kong, Shure is also nearly as big as Bose. Bose usually only sell their products within their own specialised stores whereas Shures (and audio-technica) are available at numerous CD/record stores such as HMV, HK Records, etc... Etymotic is also becoming more and more common as record stores have also started to carry their models. This is a change for the good! In the UK, however, Bose is still much more famous than other brands and people think of them as a "posh version of Sony". No one has even heard of Shure, Etymotic, UE, Westone, Grado. Everyone knows Bose, Sony, Sennheiser, etc...
