SHURE CUTS THE CORD: RMCE-TW1 / TW2 - THE TRUE WIRELESS THREAD

Shure play app recognises my connected TW1. It then prompts me to upgrade to the latest firmware. So I guessed this firmware was TW1 dedicated.
So you mean that the upgrade is only relevant to TW2 pieces?
You can update your firmware but it doesn’t mean you get a hardware eq. The latest firmware is from sept and reads as follows:

Improvements

  • Improved pairing experience
  • Improved connection speed
  • Improved battery reporting
  • Bug fixes

Notes

  • User guide
  • Firmware updates will be available in the ShurePlus PLAY app

No, it won't upgrade the firmware after many many attempts.
Does not seem to influence SQ anyway when using UAPP or NEUTRON.
But it is annoying that this happens.

Coupled in the photo with my
Mackie MP-240, the best value 2 driver hybrid on the planet... (Just saying, but they are truly great sounding for the money).

Some of you may have noticed a new entry in Shures Aonic line, the Free as a TWS in-ear that's more inline with other offerings, i.e. not reusing existing in-ears. Since they are rather different from TW1/TW2, I opened a new thread here:

Anyone with a TW2 get a firmware update to version 1.3.13.0? I can't find a changelog online and am not sure what changed, but my SE846s still sound great paired with the TW2.

I searched but couldn’t find the change log.

Do any other IEMs work well with the TW2s outside of the Mackie? Anyone know of any others?

Ha, I was hoping for LDAC / Apt-X Adaptive, but bug fixes are appreciated (though mine work great as far as I can tell).
I‘d not bet on anything like that happening… if these features were planned I’d have expected that to be announced on the product page, even if not yet available. And since the Aonic 50 supports other codecs, it looks more like a deliberate decision to me to not support other codecs on the in-ears. Maybe due to hardware limitations (cpu and/or battery)

Came to headfi to check if this broke people's TW2s when I saw the update. I guess I'll pull the trigger on this one, thanks!

I don't remember any of the updates breaking anything so far... looks like diligent work on Shures side. Hope they keep it that way...

Has anyone tried retrofitting the case with wireless charging using something like this?

[Short Version] Type C Wireless Charging Receiver, Nillkin Magic Tag USB C Qi Wireless Charger Receiver Chip for Google Pixe/2/3a/Nexus 6P and Other USB-C Phones https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y5FDXD4/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_4N0Q2FF3E1Z93H8ZNCR9

Is the inner earbud holder/battery removable from the case shell? I'm wondering if there'd be room to either put this at the top or bottom of the zipper case.
